Ignore The Naysayers, Teens!

3 posts in this topic

Hi

My name is Rob

In my recent post I discussed why teens should get into personal development instead of just doing what society made "easy" to do. Personal development has been a rocky path for me, especially when It comes down to trying to navigate a young mind that isn't sure that how things will work out.

I've been through a lot of challenges on my journey. One of those challenges is: being labeled weird. I remember at lunch time I always enjoyed putting in my headphones and start listening to Leo's self help podcast on iTunes. Inevitably there are going to be people who asks you what you're listening. Before, I would always say to them I'm listening to self help podcasts and people will nod and walk away. Until someone said to me once: "you're getting weird. I mean you gave up video games, stopped junk food and now you're listening to those weird stuff, you're becoming anti-social!"

Before that would've really piss me off but until I've gained some perspective, things flips around. Those naysayers, are lazy people, or unconscious people. You really think they're living a life like you are? NO! You think they're having REAL fun playing video games and eating junk food? NO! Their superego won't let them go! They're miserable people themselves, they get bored easily and complains about why life not full of excitement. Not like us, we're always living on our edge, trying out new personal development tactics and reading amazing books! We're living THE CHARGED LIFE! Of course those who aren't living it will pin you down and label you weird! You'll be the one who will set yourself apart from the crowd, you will achieve amazing results and live an exodinary life, you will feel charged and excited for the whole day! But they won't, and they're jealous, unconsciously jealous. It's your job to not get pinned down by those people. Next time, don't even react. It's ok to be weird, thatd what I takes to set yourself apart from mediocrity. By the time the real kick-ass results starts to show, that's when you can say: I'VE PROVED THEM WRONG!

I would take this as a compliment :-)

If I were you I would be carefull though not to feel separated from the other guys of your school. I don't see any point in "proving them wrong". I think the only thing you are able to do is "proving yourself right".
