Sameness vs Difference of Sages & Mystics?

How would you describe and distinguish the similarities and differences between a sage and a mystic? I feel like the similarities are more clear rather than the differences. I don't want to brush over this as I can intuit on a more subtle level certain differences that seem to be very hard to articulate. 

As you give your answer, would love to get some of your examples of who you would call a mystic and a sage.
