Why does it get cold when a spirit is present?

I try my best to realize something for myself but I still don't completely understand why this is so. You would think an entity, whether it's incarnate or not would bring warmth but is that because it's not actually a conscious being? A lingering emotion which continues to foster it's own presence and that emotion is necessarily coming from a void, thereby existing by drawing into itself like the vacuum of space. Just a memory manifested? Evidence of the true scope of intelligence. Like a strand of hair which has fallen off your head, no longer growing on your head but persisting until eventually, it's no more. If not fed, like any emotion.

There's a lot more swirling around in my head but I'll leave it at that. Has anyone read The Magus Of Java?
