There is no true self and ego, there is fear that creates closure and absence of fear that allows the openess.

You can't tell the fear to go, you just can look at it directly, be humble enough to allow the essential fear to manifest in the surface until you integrate it and there is no fear anymore, it's just survival instinct, a facet of you, not something external to you that encloses you.

Then you see the obvious, that what you are can't die because what you are is the life appearing as you, not you with a life inside that can die.
