The real solution to the male loneliness epidemic

1 post in this topic

In 2014, an online movement known as gamergate popped up. It was a response to Zoe Quinn and Anita Sarkeesian bringing feminism into video games. This marked the beginning of a right wing backlash against "social justice warriors". These people were characterized as being like Don Quixote, living in a fantasy world and fighting problems that don't actually exist. The impression being that these people were obsessive, easily offended, hypocritical, and lacking any self awareness. I hope that most on this forum have since realized that this was a mischaracterization, but it really speaks to a gender conflict.

The previous waves of feminism were about giving women equality under the law and the same economic opportunities as men. The current wave is ultimately about teaching women that they don't need men. This naturally leaves some men insecure because if enough women give up dating, some straight men will be left single. You see, the issue at hand here is that women are realizing that they don't need men for their happiness, but the same is not happening vice versa.

Once you get to tier 2, you realize just how banal evil really is. A lot of it is committed by people in stage red who view society as a competitive jungle where the strong do what they will and the weak suffer what they must. They do what they do because they don't understand why they shouldn't. Evil can also come from blue and orange for another reason. These people are trying to fill in a void. They want money, status, and power over other people.

The reason why there is a void in the first place is because they do not love themselves. Elliot Rodger was a textbook narcissist. He was a 22 year old virgin who went on a killing spree. But the main cause was the fact that he felt that he needed a girlfriend to feel whole. He specifically rejected the idea that he see a sex worker because only desperate men do that. He became extremely envious at the sight of couples and wished ill will on women for not being willing to date him. Rodger also held some pretty racist views, including internalized racism from being half Asian.

The solution to the male loneliness epidemic is not for men to fight feminism but rather to love themselves. Narcissism is described as the excessive love for oneself, but I don't think that's quite the correct description. Elliot Rodger was an extremely insecure man, despite having an ego that was obsessed with self-image. Loving yourself does not mean being an insecure person obsessed with self-image; it means being a secure person. It does not mean viewing women as objects for your satisfaction; it means realizing that although it might be nice to have a girlfriend or wife, you do not need one. A man who loves himself does not reject feminism; he rejects toxic masculinity.

Men claim to love women more than anything, yet they are afraid of being viewed as being like women. A weak man is a pussy, a female body part, or gay. Men are also afraid of being controlled by women. A man who is controlled by his wife is being whipped (note that there is no such term for a woman being controlled by a man). But perhaps what men fear most of all is raising children that are not his own. The English term for such a man is a cuckold.

Speaking of cuckoldry, there's a very good video by Innuendo Studios on the subject:

Sexism is rooted in a very limited view on men and women. Sexists are oftentimes insecure about themselves. As the video mentions, the manosphere detests polyamory because it frees women. I remember back when I went to an Evangelical Christian high school. I distinctly remember one chapel about abstinence. What I remember most was when the teacher speaking said that if you marry a virgin, she won't know how bad you are at sex. Obviously, it was meant to be tougue-in-cheek, but as a nonbeliever, it comes across as a self aware wolf moment. It seems to be that one reason why women have had to remain virgins until marriage was so that they couldn't compare one man to another.

The truth of the matter for sexism is that it is a limiting worldview for both men and women.
