The thinker cannot use thought to reach enlightenment

62 posts in this topic

Thought can be stilled through meditation, but stilling the brain is organic death. Stilling the mind is the purpose and result of non-intellectual, seated meditation practice. In the process leading to stilled thoughts, which is the end of thought, the sensory gates close and after meditation, reopen beginning with the sense of thought, sometimes in a supramundane perceptual way followed by the five physical senses, that loses intensity after the practice and yet, carries on throughout the day of wood chopping and water hauling. Eventually, one no longer needs the boat, but it's pleasant to take a ride.
