Balancing Material desires versus Spiritual Growth

2 posts in this topic

How to balance material desires with spiritual growth, I find myself in a position where there is a conflict between these two. I have desire for fame, power and a lot of different kinds of experiences that in the material world so to speak. But at the same time there is this feeling that this contradicts with my higher vison and growth. For example building charisma, focusing on frame control and trying to be famous in one aspect of my life and trying to change the persona to get there feels contradictory in nature to meditating everyday, contemplating about deep stuff and trying to see things clearly. It feels like I have to give up one for the other.
This is really confusing.

It would be great to know your thoughts on this matter. ✨

This is a false dichotomy in my view and a lower paradigm question, as well as categories.

You are balancing instead the freedom to choose versus the freedom to experience.

Where material and spiritual does not align conservatively in this regard, it is likely total and utter nonsense.

That said, more generally, both "materialism" and "spirituality" have their own kinds of traps visible by placing the object underneath the lens of the suggested dichotomy.

When materialism becomes an addiction, it rubs up against choice.

When spirituality becomes an imprisoning 'religion' say, it rubs up against the freedom to experience.

You can use my dichotomy across all categories of life choices in this regard to test for existential noise vs signal.
