As a performer its very important for me to gain attention and be funny and even tho I got chuckles in the past, actually someone breaking down in laughter rarely happend until I realised volume. Its not so much about the joke, its about being LOUD. Why? Volume is the number one way to get attention, that is why before making a toast you cling your glass, why they blow a whistle before the train leaves, why you have the noise of a fire alarm. It instantly grabs attention.

Now we are scared to be loud, because subconsciously we know that if talk almost as loud as yelling, that people will notice. So fear has to be overcomed. Once you overcome the fear of being seen, gaining attention both positive and negative, you will be able to be ALLOT more funny, gain attention, make people stop. Like everytime you approach someone on the top of your vocal projection (not yelling, but just one volume below yelling) you make them stop everytime. For most people its not being 2x louder, but 10x louder. People simply ignore low volume.

So next time you make a joke, say the joke as loud as you can without yelling (as yelling is a bit too aggressive) notice how much attention and laughter you get. Now this doesn't work if its a really shitty joke or it might even work with a shitty line if you really dramatise your volume. Now its also safe for others, because being loud means not only the person you talk to hears you, but everyone around you aswell, what makes it not a secret creepy thing. Being loud shows your not hiding.

If your loud without humor, it can come off a bit too aggresive, keep in mind people are scared so aggression needs to be mixed with something funny or cute, being loud is aggressive so that always has to be combined with something cute or funny otherwise you will scare people, because remember, LOUD is the number one way to gain attention, but that also means you can come across as the alarm clock instead of the loud charismatic person. Unless your a cute girl hahaha, that is why loud girls like Cardi B or other celebs are so big hahaha because they are cute and loud as hell. Balancing the agrression/ cute & funny.
