Being doesn’t bore. Ego does.

In my boredom meditation, I sit and savor Being. From that direct experience, whatever begins to bother, bore, or basically any interpretation, reveals the ego. It’s a useful tool for mapping it.

If you let go enough, boredom disappears. That’s why people can meditate for many many hours.

@EmiHyen

Yeah that makes sense. I actually just started a daily meditation practice and it’s honestly hard for me to sit there for even 10–20 minutes. My mind constantly wants to grab onto something to do.

I’ve started noticing during the day how much I try to fill every moment with stimulation so I don’t have to sit in quietness or nothingness. It’s like I’m always trying to escape boredom.

If I keep meditating consistently, does the ego slowly dissolve over time? Or does it just become easier to access that sense of Being you’re talking about?

Also when boredom comes up, should I just sit there and try to observe it and find that “being” underneath it? Even after I finish meditating my mind still wants to grab onto things that aren’t really helpful for my life long-term, so I’m trying to understand how to work with that.
