Canadian delegation intends to recognize Palestine at the UN

LIVE: Canada’s Prime Minister, Mark Carney, says the country intends to recognize the State of Palestine at the United Nations General Assembly in September.

The reasons he articulated for this move were disapproval of settlements and unpunished settler violence, as well as condemnation of a motion passed by the Knesset (Israel’s legislative body) to annex the West Bank, known as the E1 settlement plan.

 

The United Kingdom has also condemned the E1 settlement plan.

Keir Starmer himself has said that the UK intends to recognize a Palestinian State.
