  1. I like your analogy and I think it makes a valid point. However, I would still contend that Deepak definitely has had an issue with how he communicates. Even someone like me, who is very open minded to spiritual ideas and concepts, understand why Dawkins perceived him in the way he did. Deepak consciously chose to obfuscate his idea's with his use of language. In addition to that he borrowed and used terms from science and used them in out of context ways. See his infamous use of the word 'quantum' if you want an example. If I was teaching you how to use a toaster and I did it in biblical language it would raise your eyebrow, no? Obviously he could have been genuine in his use of language, but either way, in my opinion Deepak definitely was not completely innocent. At best he communicated poorly, at worst he is a disingenuous manipulative hack. Which considering of how many hacks their are in the world the safe assumption is that he is a complete hack.
  2. A little ways in Tim Pool cops to basically being center left. He's for Universal Healthcare, but not for dismantling private insurance and he's for higher education being payed for by the government. He's literally admitting his entire schtick is a grift.
  3. This is my first time hearing Destiny, he's pretty good.
  4. You don't think Deepak's use of certain scientific terms and vague use of language is misleading in some way? Honestly, Richard could be more open minded in those realms, but Deepak hasn't done himself any favors.
  5. I'm curious how familiar you are with Dawkins to say that. I've read a lot of his stuff and anything relating to science and that has hard data he's a savant in terms of his analysis. Not to mention his politics are extremely green, but he doesn't get caught up in a lot of the SJW toxic green stuff at all. He's definitely dogmatic about science and rationalism, but there's a lot about orange that doesn't fit his character in the slightest.
  6. Better get rid of the evidence that we are literally corroding the fabric of society it could effect our P R O F I T S LOL
  7. Yang is a complete doofus. He's a complete spiritual moron. Anything he says that sounds good is parroted from something he read. Anytime he goes off on his own thoughts he literally sounds like a verbal dumpster fire.
  8. As someone who has had an existential crisis that could probably go on a top 10 leaderboard somewhere in terms of psychological suffering I can tell you that you will get better with time. You have to make sure you handle it in the healthiest way imaginable. There's a lot of good advice in the thread already, I just wanted to reinforce your resolve to get through your tough time.
  9. Yea I feel that. I don't mean to caste judgement, he is an entertaining speaker. Just my silly preference.
  10. Lol, I actually like that about him. It makes him sound funny in an entertaining way. I feel like Vaush is kind of forcing his voice to sound like a radio announcer. ?
  11. I read the wiki just now. It was interesting, but I still believe that if you are going to criticize the man, or a person on general do it on the merit if what that person says or does. I also believe that Vaush, Hasan, and others do make that connection for the purpose of vaguely connecting them to horrific ideologies of the past. To me that's not an argument on good faith, at least when they are doing it. It's also the last way you're going to convince anyone from the other side. You can connect a lot of more traditional ideologies with horrific moments in history. A lot of ideologies have baggage, let's not unload that on a person unless they truly deserve it. That's what I'm trying to say.
  12. Man, I got to the part where Hasan makes some vague connection to JP's beliefs and the Nazi ideology and I had to stop watching. Nothing has made me cringe harder than when Vaush, or another leftist makes some vague connection from Nazism to american right wing ideology outside of actual white nationalists or some other group. He makes some good points up until then. But then he starts talking about how JP is using a dog whistle, which is his way of basically saying that JP is secretly a Nazi espousing Nazi beliefs, but doing it in just enough of a vague way it doesn't look too suspicious. I've heard Vaush use the same terminology against other right wing people. Not everyone who's right wing is a death cultist racist nazi. I'm a leftist generally speaking, but I'm getting sick of hearing this criticism. Your point is definitely valid. I have a bit of a soft spot for JP.
  13. A few points: 1) Criticizing someone for using a prescribed psychiatric drug to help them cope with their wife's death is a low blow. Even if you preface it with all the information. I don't know if Hasan did this, I've just seen people do it quite a bit now. 2) You could also make a long montage highlighting the good things he's said as well. He does say a lot of really good things in regards to living a good life and self improving in general. 3) He does grift to the right, but I think part of that has always been because that's where a lot of his audience is. Which is a bunch of men who are young incel Trump voters, who badly need to hear the message of self improvement. These types of guys wouldn't listen to any self-help person otherwise. All that being said, he does clearly have a lot of bad conservative opinions and that shouldn't be ignored. I just think the guy has given a positive avenue for a lot of young conservative minded men to self-improve and become better people.
  14. Oh ok, I don't know what the situation is outside of the states.
  15. Progressives are not common, that is correct. However, regular run of the mill democrats are extremely common. Even Hillary Clinton won the popular vote by like 3 million votes. Center left is the most common political position in the country. Don't take my word for it. Go check the statistics for yourself.
  16. Nah man, population wise most people are center left on average. The democratic party supports gay rights. Gay people are overwhelmingly left leaning, that's not really debatable. We can start googling statistics, but there's honestly not much point debating something that's so blatantly obvious.
  17. @kag101Yea, there are a lot of well meaning people who are on the right. No one should make you feel guilty for having a political leaning and a lot of people on the left tend to stereotype and chastise people on the right to an unfair degree. Strive to be open minded to new information and simply be a good person you shouldn't have too many issues. I don't know what gay people you're hanging out with because gay people are overwhelmingly left leaning.
  18. I finally got around to listening to this guy's thoughts on capitalism and socialism. He says he's well read on socialism, but his thoughts on the subject are extremely simplistic. He didn't have one interesting or novel thing to say. Just another rich guy who wants lower taxes because dur durdur trickle down. Lets not actually look at the reality of massively growing wealth disparity and suggest that perhaps that people shouldn't go into massive debt because of medical bills or higher education. Meanwhile people of his ilk make more money on a green day in the stock market than most people will in a lifetime by 100 fold. How is that a win win win situation, Mr. CEO? Yes, it's a good thing that you make millions while literally taking a dump as the stock market gets pumped with welfare money from the central bank. All while Joe Blow literally can't fall ill because he has no insurance and will literally get pushed into bankruptcy if he does. Why was this dude on Joe Rogan? He's no more articulate than an average person on the subject. If you want to talk capitalism get a real libertarian economist on, then at least you'll get some better arguments.
  19. Conscious capitalism? He'll have to justify those 5 dollar boxes of strawberries first and then maybe I'll listen.
  20. Yea, I'm being a bit harsh most likely. I haven't really watched much of his stuff, it just never appealed to me. To each their own.
  21. I've never liked JP's video's because it always felt like he had a smug sense of superiority over the types of people he criticizes. I don't personally feel attacked by them, but I get the sense there's a bit of narcissism in his brand of comedy. And then of course, he shields himself from any criticism completely by claiming that everything he says is parody.
  22. Great post, man. Exactly the kind of thing I was looking for. Seems there are a tremendous number of things to read about. I appreciate you enlightening me on some avenues to go down. I've spent a fair amount of time studying monetary economics. Especially in regards to centralized banking and MMT. My interest in economics really began in my quest to learn whether or not different social programs like UHC or free college where economically viable. Economics always seemed like the one last bastion of legitimacy the conservative ideology had when I was younger.
  23. You've studied economics, right? What are your favorite countries to read about in terms of economic case studies? For example, when I was trying to understand national debt I looked at Japan and Greece which was fascinating and very educational on that subject.
  24. I'm pretty sure most people idealize Marx, because socialism itself was born out of his economic philosophy. Marx viewed society as a progression towards the abolishment of socioeconomic classes. There's a lot of really good idea's there. I believe that Marx's ideas actually came way too early and that he was ahead of his time. Capitalism > Socialism > Communism A big part of economic philosophy and the success in its application is beholden to the development of the people within that economic system. Which is why its important that certain idea's are only applied in a society that is properly developed and ready for them. Edit: Man, some of you guys are so hung up on spiral dynamics you should start a religion around it. Why can't you just have a conversation rather than get hung up on categorizing absolutely everything to a color? @nitramadas A quick glance at your post history shows that pretty much every post you make mentions SD. Which color/stage gets so obsessed and hung up on a conceptual framework that literally everything they say is rooted in said conceptual framework? Just curious. Your posts are like the quintessential example of someone who uses SD to act as if the content of your posts are of some sort of higher tier caliber. It's literally the SD version of holier than thou.
