  1. But it is true in a simplistic form. I am not saying that there is not more to life than that as there is clearly alot more. But Humans have a tendency to feel that they have some higher purpose in life. Fact of the better is that no one will remember my Grandad when I die or will remember me when my immediate family dies. Also what is a good life? The beliefs of a good life instilled into you by your culture, family and friends?
  2. At the end of the day we are just like animals, but we have evolved by using our brains to better our species. But our sole aim in life is to be born, reproduce and die. All the stuff we see nowadays with marketing ads in the city is superficial and really it's just people trying to make a living by advertising their goods, so that they can have a good life and provide for their family. Much like the hunter of old who killed their prey to provide food for their family. Unfortunately we have no choice in living this life, so we better make the most of it because you only get one life.
  3. Has anyone tried meridian tapping? What did they make of it?
  4. hahah I might be exaggerating slightly with regards to nearly passing out. But yes, labelling takes me around 10 -15 seconds because I like to label the thought and then see it float away in a cloud. I find that very liberating.
  5. You cannot change your parents, but you have the power to change yourself. Work on that, forgive them for they no not and you are the better person.
  6. Next time she asks you sleep on the floor tell her that only dogs sleep on the floor! Only kidding, but really, I would have probably ditched her there and then. Too much work! Off to the next one, plenty of fish in the sea! If you want to continue having a hard time with her that is your choice, but have a conversation with her about sleeping on the bed. Tell her you are not interested in sex right now anyway and you would only be interested when she was ready because after all its a mutual thing. With that said plenty of respect to you because you slept on the floor more than once. Not sure I could even do it once.
  7. Yes I have started doing that already, but sometimes you get a thought and then you concentrate on labelling the thought and letting it float away and at then I realise I have stopped breathing to label the thought. I know you shouldn't try and control the breath but unfortunately I think this happens to me sub consciously.
  8. Sounds simple, until you nearly pass out because your holding you breath lol
  9. Hi guys, I hope you are all well. I have some newbie meditation questions that have come up whilst meditating this past 2 months. I only noticed this after switching from body scan to watching the breath, but when I am watching my breath I noticed that I actually start controlling it which I have been led to believe I shouldn't be doing. This becomes more apparent when I am labelling a thought and stop breathing (or I hold my breath) because I am thinking about labelling the thought. Any ideas how I can remedy this and have you experienced the same thing?
  10. Hi guys, I have started mediating using Head Space and I am really enjoying, although the guided meditation is quite annoying because it makes me lose my focus! I am ready to move onto the next steps and would like to follow a practice. There are so many practices out there that it is quite confusing. I feel like I will be picking a practice out of pot luck. I was looking at Kundalini and that freaked me out with all the possible side effects you may encounter - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kundalini So does anyone know of a good place to start from. Like a base that you can grow from?
  11. Hello All, I recently started mediating and happened to come across Leo's videos whilst searching through YouTube. I watched all of Leo's videos during his nine day retreat and this has really inspired me. The nine day mediating solo retreated inspired me greatly an truly blew me away! A few months ago I would have thought mediating for 9 days was a huge waste of someone's life. Even mediating for an hour would have seemed a waste of time to be a few months. In this hour I could be doing so many more interesting things with my life, like watching my favourite TV show or gaming, there are so many diversions out there. However, I totally get it now and how extremely beneficial it is to mediate. We rush to get up in the morning, rush through breakfast, then rush to work, rush down lunch, rush home from work, rush dinner, rush, rush, rush. Most humans are always rushing about, but really where are they rushing too? What are your favourite inspirational quotes to live for the now and to live in the moment?
