  1. What if I told you that you trust your logic because it feels good.
  2. Mix of avant-garde music performances, tiny, intermittent, supplementing interviews, and overall a lot of musically oriented sociopolitical commentary.
  3. Master of avant-garde music performances (and simultaneous sociopolitical commentary):
  4. Speaking about adapting,
  5. Oh tell me about it. I had to memorize around 20 different species of shorebird when I was studying biology in uni
  6. You're on a killing spree today
  7. Exactly . The problem is that both sides are right to some extent, but how you should approach that is much more nuanced.
  8. Since you're a number's person, to what extent are we talking? 0% reliability? 10%? 20%? Surely there are atleast some cases where you find SD to have some predictive capability (anything else would be dishonest). The question is just how much.
  9. Weird way to interpret "make sense", but ok. Empiricism is one approach, but you can also take your own knowledge of history and culture and compare it to the predictions of SD to see how it holds up.
  10. If you never contradict yourself then you're not growing. It might also be that you're just lacking the perspective to handle the apparent contradiction. Maybe it's not a contradiction at all.
  11. Then where does the solution lie: silence the distress with force (but muh free speech) or actually try to fix the problems (systemic issues)?
  12. What would it take for SD to make sense to you?
  13. What would you do if you were angry at someone? "Fuck them". What if you also had a good reason to be angry? In that sense, you can sympathize with "fuck them" as it's an understandable reaction, but in another sense, of course it would be better if it was avoided. The latter is of course utopian. I think the burden is on you to explain why historical events should not be a part of the equation in this specific instance. There is no reason to pretend there is always a level playing field. You have to be able to draw fine distinctions even in the pursuit of equality. It's easy to get lost in abstract ideas here, but is this necessarily how you would act yourself? Would you treat the child who got angry because his ball was stolen the same way as a child who got angry because he simply hates someone for no reason?
  14. You're talking about internet problems, not real life problems. If you want to see white privilege in action, go outside and observe the real world.
  15. 45 mins to 1 hour is the Goldilock zone. Don't ask before you've tried it.
  16. @Loving Radiance She went to my high school (one year above me) and we had the same music teacher
