We finally made it to Vegas.
-
The music, the text, the voice-over—so inspiring. As a kid, I was thrilled, and it still gives me goosebumps.

I've really been enjoying this Philosopher Newport guy—truly a hidden gem. Check out his book:

Lilya 4-Ever is the third film I’ve watched where a woman takes her own life, and the fourth suicide-themed movie in a row. It’s not the darkest I’ve seen on the subject—The Seventh Continent definitely holds that title.

Bernadette Roberts would also say that "I am" is not an illusion. But it's not eternal. It's something that arises and falls away. So it doesn't have any ultimate reality. But it's very real while it's happening. "Because the mind bends on itself it sees or is aware of itself; thus we have the knowing experience 'This is I,' 'I am myself,' and so on. Self is not a socially learned or conditioned experience; it is not a mistake or an illusion. Rather, self or consciousness is a concrete function of the human brain; without it, man would not be man." - Quote from What is Self? -

Mashallah! It’s great to see you featured on podcasts.

Lost is one of the greatest shows ever, with a finale that stands among the best. Sure, the creators admitted they were making it up as they went, but for a story that was improvised, it’s amazing how beautifully it all came together in the end.

"I don't choose to do the things I have to do. They just keep happening." - Maximus That's a great description of the feeling of having no free will.

"To me, the deepest spiritual power is to be able to see moment to moment that you're only with yourself." That's a quote by Adyashanti; I think it sounds solipsistic. The Buddha also said, "I alone am the honored one," which can be interpreted as a solipsistic statement. -
'night, Mother (1986) A woman shoots herself in the head, again. Great movie!

Christine (2016) is based on the real story of Christine Chubbuck, who committed suicide on TV.
-
This is surprisingly funny. The Christian guy says, "There's only one world," and the old lady replies, "They'd be frozen to death," and the German guy says, "No, I'm German." 😂

I really enjoyed On the Count of Three. I wish there were more films like it.
-
Very interesting indeed!

Lolita (1997) It’s surprisingly good. I avoided it for a long time, thinking a book like Lolita, where the prose is the main draw, could never be adapted well for the screen. But I was wrong. The same goes for the Moby-Dick movie with Gregory Peck—surprisingly good.

This is worth reading ⬆️ This too ⬆️ And this ⬆️ And don't forget this ⬆️

Just finished Prey. The mix of Native American and shamanistic themes with alien elements is such a unique concept—it gives off a strong stage purple vibe. It’s a shame we never got a true sequel. Makes me wonder what the ultimate stage purple game would look like; there’s so much potential to explore. This game is available for free on archive.org.

After watching Bloodlines, I decided to check out the rest of the Final Destination series, and it’s surprisingly good. The fourth film is definitely the weakest, while five is probably my second favorite after Bloodlines. The bridge sequence is incredible, and the gymnast’s death is easily the most shocking of all the Final Destination deaths. Usually, I laugh at them, but that one left me stunned. Bloodlines feels like the culmination of everything they’ve learned over the years about making a great Final Destination movie—it’s tightly executed.

I'm playing Prey (2006) at the moment. It's lots of fun: They even killed two little kids: The opening of this game is amazing, with "Don't Fear The Reaper" playing in the background. Older games were so much more creative; they offered short and memorable experiences. Now we have expansive games that feel empty.

@Leo Gura Are you watching with us?
-
It just works!
-
Maybe horse balls could save it from disappointment, though I’ve heard that game features horse assholes instead of horse balls.
-
Yeah, that movie is wild. I really think Demi Moore deserved an Oscar for it.

I didn’t expect Final Destination: Bloodlines to be so entertaining, but it was hilarious! I’ve only seen the first movie in the series before, and honestly, I think Bloodlines was better. If you’re in the mood for a less uplifting film to end the year, this is the one to watch. I love how it dives into themes of determinism, causality, and predestination—it’s right up my alley
