The original games are still the best! While Games 5 and 6 get the most criticism, I still find them enjoyable. You just have to take them for what they are—fun action games, not survival horror. Game 7 returns to the series’ roots and is really good, too. I’m just not sure what happened with 8; it strangely didn’t grab me.

Slay the Spire II is releasing in just a few days, but after twenty hours of playing the first game, I still haven’t beaten it. I came so close—the final boss was down to just one HP. Is it really meant to be this hard, or am I just not very good at it?

Requiem is an absolute thrill ride—definitely one of the best Resident Evil games ever, though the remake of the first installment will always hold a special place for me; there’s just something about exploring that mansion with Jill. I never finished Village, got bored after an hour, but I might give it another shot now because I’m craving more RE. Also excited for the upcoming RE movie from the director of Weapons.

Wow, what an episode! It really moved me.

Great! I have to pause playing Resident Evil Requiem to watch the next episode of the greatest TV show ever made.

Has anyone else been playing Resident Evil Requiem? It's fantastic! The graphics are stunning, and the audio design is incredible. It truly captures the essence of classic Resident Evil while feeling thoroughly modern and cinematic. I love how they've alternated between horror with Grace and action with Leon; it's a really cool approach.

From his website.

That'd be huge! Steven already had Sadhguru on, so he might be interested in having Leo, too.

The Bone Temple wasn't filmed on an iPhone, as it had a different director. Since Danny Boyle is returning for the final entry, perhaps he'll use an iPhone again; I'm not sure. It's definitely an interesting choice. I personally enjoy storytelling. Technical accomplishments alone rarely impress me, which is why I'm not a big fan of Avatar.

Yes! "Part 3 of this trilogy is now in production, and is expected to start filming in March 2026. The story has already been written by Alex Garland as he had written all 3 movies at the same time, and Danny Boyle has said he will be returning to direct the final entry." - IMDb

The Bone Temple is now streaming, but I'm not on board with the general opinion that it surpasses its predecessor. While it has its strengths, it drags too much for my liking. I enjoyed the structure and narrative drive of 28 Years Later much more; this felt like a string of disconnected events. I kept wondering why the story didn't center more on Spike's perspective, especially since the opening scene seemed to set that up so promisingly before abandoning it. On the bright side, the soundtrack is excellent. Here's hoping the next installment improves.

Just watched Grizzly Man, which was mentioned in the podcast with Leo. It's an interesting documentary with a spiritual quality. It seems it was his fate to become one with the bear, reminiscent of Ahab and the whale.

I really enjoyed it and can't wait to see more of this in the future.
-
I enjoyed this movie even more than the previous one. It has the same director as Upgrade.
-
Upgrade is a great film from the co-writer of the original Saw. I really enjoyed its surprising conclusion!

I finally watched Run Lola Run, and it’s surprisingly good for a German film. Tom Tykwer really knows how to make a movie, and I also love his adaptation of Perfume. Fun fact: the actress who plays Lola was born in Münster, which isn’t far from where I live—I even went to school there.

I have to bring up Session 9 again, because it’s only now starting to really creep me out. When I first saw it, I thought it was a decent movie and didn’t give it much thought. But as time went on, it started to get under my skin. It’s like my subconscious needed days to fully process the horror. That last line—now it’s giving me shivers in a way it didn’t before. Another movie that affected me in a similar way is Aftersun. While watching it, I felt bored, but later it suddenly hit me, and I found myself crying.

Event Horizon is a solid cosmic horror film. Unfortunately, it's another case where an unreleased Director's Cut detracts from the movie. It's still worth seeing. Another great movie featuring Sam Neill losing his mind is In the Mouth of Madness.

I watched both the original and the remake of "The Last House on the Left," and I have to say that I prefer the remake. I saw the remake first and then watched the original. While the original is interesting, it doesn't feel as upsetting as the remake; it comes off as a bit absurd in comparison.

I finally got around to watching "As Above, So Below," and I must say, it's a fantastic film. It's a shame that so many found-footage movies fall short, but this one is exceptionally well-crafted. I especially enjoyed its loose inspiration from Dante's Inferno. You could say it's like "National Treasure" or "Lara Croft" but set in hell. If you see the movie, definitely check out the trivia section on IMDb afterward; it's quite insightful.

The Entity is a solid horror film that seems to have flown under the radar for many. It's inspired by the real-life case of Doris Bither, who claimed to have been sexually assaulted by an invisible force. I recently watched two more underrated horror movies: The Ruins (2008) Frozen (2010)

Disturbing Behavior is an oddly overlooked film. Perhaps the unreleased Director's Cut would have been met with a warmer reception. Here are a few more movies I’ve been watching lately: Urban Legend (1998) Breakdown (1997) The Ninth Gate (1999) — Quite slow, yet oddly captivating. Stir of Echoes (1999) Session 9 (2001)

I can't believe I'd never heard of Frailty before. It's a well-acted, intriguing movie with a twist that might or might not work for you, but I found it to be great. It's a tightly executed film that's definitely worth checking out.

Hamnet is finally available for streaming! I've been really looking forward to this movie, and it did not disappoint. It's been a long time since a movie made me cry. You don't need to read/see Hamlet before watching Hamnet, but familiarity with the Bard's work will make you appreciate this movie a million times more.

Inscryption is such a fun game. I made a 7/7 card that hits three times and named it God. But the game’s tough, and I keep dying. I need to rethink my strategy—probably best to keep a thin deck so I can actually play God more often.
