  1. Again, im not saying that technology is bad, we came a long way from throwing stones and all that. It is necessary in that sense. And there will be revolutionary stuff like the internet was for our time. But its not what we desperately need today as first our first priority. Edit: I see we are in a disagreement on the importance of technology in solving our problems today. I shall come back with examples next time what i think is more important to focus on. If you want to discuss it further. But i dont want to hijack your topic.
  2. My point is precisely that they are not necessary to better human well-being. Humanity focuses on technological advancement to a level of autism, while ignoring everything else. That doesnt mean im against technology though. An improvement is an improvement. But then another thing about that, you have to be careful of the pitfalls of it. Is 6 hours phone time a day healthy ? And they are engineering it on purpose to be as addictive as possible. Because it makes money. Thanks Obama!
  3. What i meant with the industrial revolution example, is that technological advancement doesnt mean anything if it doesnt transfer into human well-being. The bottleneck today is not technology. But i understand that was not the point of your topic, i just thought its something useful to point out.
  4. We could already create an utopian world on earth for everyone with our current technology. The industrial revolution increased our production capability thousandfolds. Did that change anything for the ordinary folks? No ? Thats because the ruling worldview didnt change with it. Thats the tragedy of todays politics that virtually nobody even acknowledges this today. Im not going into examples on that because i already gave a piece of my mind on it at another one of your topics. Nor will i go into discussing communism because thats not what the topic here, i just wanted to mention it because it was an attempt on changing the social order. I regularly see this kind of comments pop up on the forum. We are here to discuss and learn from each other. You mean that as in virtually immortal i assume. Because a finite form will never be immortal. I'll never put a chip into my brain. But i saw a video about someone playing chess by just looking at the board. Pretty cool.
  5. @Carl-Richard Oh. Now that you typed it out, i dont know how that wasnt my first logical conclusion. Derp
  6. So you mean you have less tolerance for stupidity than you used to have ? Or you are referring to the phenomenon that older people always find the youngsters music trash ? I mean, snake oil sellers always been around and people always said stupid stuff. Do you think they are louder now or people are actually dumber ? I think you just wanted to let some steam off and im mansplaining it. 6 7
  7. I meant to post this guy for a while now, but he only makes short content on youtube. Adam Aleksic is a linguist and he actually wrote a book called Algospeak i didnt know about, if anyone read it you could share your opinion on it, i would be interested. I selected a few shorts from him, if the short format doesnt turn you off right away, they are worth checking out.
  8. @NewKidOnTheBlock Its post-modern memeing. The meaning of the meme is its existense itself. Not that they are self aware of it. Its just jokes. Wait i'll look a video up for you. Edit: Yeah i couldnt find the video i was looking for sorry. But check out my newest thread. I selected a few cool videos from the guy that did the video i was looking for.
  9. Step 1: Sit down Step 2: Tie the rope into a lasso Step 3: ??? Step 4: Profit.
  10. I see the necessity of the disclaimer, but im afraid it would shut peoples mind off from the get go. You come across arrogant when you claim you have answers for what the materialistic world view dont have answers. Yeah, as im evaluating the situation, now i think it is probably better to do a disclaimer. Nevermind.
  11. Very nice! I understood exactly what you mean. (But i think you could have just used Infinity to describe it, solipsism proves to be a problematic concept for people.) How did the unsolicited experience happen ? What were you doing at the time ?
  12. Im looking forward for this. Hipothetically, would you do an episode with Peter Joseph ? I think it could be productive and interesting.
  13. The Trump era is a lesson on what happens if your education system fails and your checks on corruption fails. It got so bad he can blatantly get away with breaking the rule of law, but he is exploiting the system that was built on principles by people a lot more intelligent than him. He is successful because he doesnt follow the rules and principles, but that only makes him a success as a leech. A civilization with integrity that is conscious of its goal is way more effective and productive than a civilization that follows the principle of Might is Right. The former is way more intelligent than the latter. The latter is literally a backstep in development. Do you think the internet would exist if Trump was the norm ? The internet exist because the system we created enabled cooperation to a level that we were able to build a global system that benefited everyone. Trump is only degrading the social structure. He is only powerful because he is the equivalent of a human leech. Calling that a success is a misunderstanding of where we were headed in the last 2000 years of civilization.
  14. Without free will infinity wouldnt be really infinite. You can help people, but if they dont want to be helped there is nothing to do about it.
  15. I heard they are trying to justify it as self defence. Saying she was about to run the agent over. But the dude shot her through the side window. How are you going to deny that? This is why politics is such a heinous bussiness. People will literally perceive the same thing differently in a way that suits their own narrative. Self deception at its finest.
  16. @Atb210201 Good. End of conversation. From my part anyways. Im not telling you what to do.
  17. @Atb210201 AI is kind of the new google. Thats what i used to answer your request. But im pretty sure ye good ol googling would be able to do the same with just a little bit more effort. Im not sharing the answer here on purpose by the way. Because its a ridicoulus claim and because its off topic.
  18. Chávez about US imperialism. One could argue that atleast back then all those actions were Cold War era anti-communist measures. (debatable at the least) Meanwhile the Orange Man keeps openly talking about that he just wants to exploit Venezuela for the oil.
  19. I love Eckhart Tolle and i think his teachings are very valuable even if people dont get the same effects from it as Eckhart himself. (That doesnt mean Leo has to add his books to his list.)
  20. I entertain politics because i think the valid approach to raise global consciousness is raising the ground level. Consciousness work for the biggest part of the population is out of reach. Most people on earth is stuck caring about their survival. And the lucky few have no guidance and their mind is so out of sync with reality that they'll never get there on their own. I want to live in a world where people have time to do nothing. And reality is not so painful that they have to keep their mind occupied with bullshit. I think this is achievable and dumbfucks like Putin and Trump are in the way.
  21. This is the Orange Man being the Orange Man. No sophistication or a second thought really behind it. To be fair he didnt invent the game they are playing. We have to change the whole system so these old farts cant fuck up the world for us anymore! *Insert Greta Thunberg How Dare You*
  22. Seemingly a lot of people even from the left are defending Trump. Either from being literally brainwashed or defending their own self interest. Survival and all that. Bernie is on point.
  23. Politics need: people who think for themself, education, effective communication and engagement from the people. So dont quit for good. Becoming apathetic wont help anyone. Other than that, i understand your reasoning for taking a break and i think its a good modus operandi. You take a break to concentrate on something else and then you come back to it when its right. I'll be doing the same. Gives you time to learn and grow.
