Aston University researchers have sent data at a speed that is 4.5 million times faster than the average home broadband. The rate is the fastest ever sent by opening up specific new wavelength bands that are not yet used in fibre optic systems. As part of an international collaboration, the academics transferred data at a rate of 301 terabits or 301,000,000 megabits per second, using a single, standard optical fibre. That’s compared to Ofcom’s UK home broadband performance report published in September 2023 which stated that the average broadband speed is just 69.4 Mbit/s megabits per second. Professor Wladek Forysiak from Aston Institute of Photonic Technologies and Dr Ian Phillips were part of the team that successfully transmitted the data. They worked in collaboration with researchers from National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) in Japan and Nokia Bell Labs in the USA. As the demand for more data increases, it is expected the newly developed technology will help keep up with future demand. The scientists used optical fibres, small tubular strands of glass that pass information using light. Regular copper cables can’t carry data at such speeds. The feat was achieved by opening up new wavelength bands that are not yet used in fibre optic systems. Different wavelength bands are equivalent to different colours of light being transmitted down the optical fibre. They did this by developing new devices called optical amplifiers and optical gain equalizers to access them. Dr Phillips led the development of a management device, or optical processor, at Aston University. He said “Broadly speaking, data was sent via an optical fibre like a home or office internet connection. “However, alongside the commercially available C and L-bands, we used two additional spectral bands called E-band and S-band. Such bands traditionally haven’t been required because the C- and L-bands could deliver the required capacity to meet consumer needs. “Over the last few years Aston University has been developing optical amplifiers that operate in the E-band, which sits adjacent to the C-band in the electromagnetic spectrum but is about three times wider. Before the development of our device, no one had been able to properly emulate the E-band channels in a controlled way.” Professor Forysiak added: “By increasing transmission capacity in the backbone network, our experiment could lead to vastly improved connections for end users. “This groundbreaking accomplishment highlights the crucial role of advancing optical fibre technology in revolutionising communication networks for faster and more reliable data transmission. “Growing system capacity by using more of the available spectrum - not just the conventional C-band but also other bands such as the L, S and now E-bands can help to keep the cost of providing this bandwidth down. “It is also a ‘greener solution’ than deploying more, newer fibres and cables since it makes greater use of the existing deployed fibre network, increasing its capacity to carry data and prolonging its useful life & commercial value. “ The results of the experiment were published this month by the Institute of Engineering and Technology, the IET, and were presented as a post-deadline paper at the European Conference on Optical Communication (ECOC) held in Glasgow, October 2023.

I had a shroom trip many years ago, where I felt everything that has ever happened, happened FOR me. I guess today I would call it a solipsist experience, but it was accompanied by a feeling of love I can only compare to what i experienced on ecstasy before. I think I integrated it pretty nicely since then, with Leo's teachings for example and in some further trips, but that feeling I had then never occurred in that intensity again. Sometimes it is baffling to see how close minded people are and I think it's because they never had even a glimpse of this Love.

@bambi I think a lot of this comes down to the fact that we are basically communicating in a few sentences each comment. You can only convey an eeny tiny bit of truth in each comment. It isnt common to come to a forum and leave well thought out 100 pages long answers and even if you did not a lot of people are going to read it. Its the style of communication thats a limiting factor here. And then of course we choose to talk about the most advanced, philosophycal, abstract etc. themes in this style, so what do you expect at this point beyond confusion ? LOL

I have not been thinking in terms of "enlightenment" for a long time and literally forgot what the term "enlightened person" supposed to mean. I think it is useful to have a definition, since there is a lot of enlightenment talk here on the forum. A person who's ordinary experience is without the separateness of I and external world. If you have beef with my definition, please dont write 2000 word essays here, just post the definition that you think would fit better with a short explanaiton if necessary and we can work from there later on.

Again, im not looking for an explanation of enlightenment. I understand it very well intellectually. I wish to create this definition for us, so when we are talking about this phenomenon, we woudl not have to have the same conversations all the time. Maybe im delusional for trying this.

Also, @Inliytened1 I would argue against this. I think one can have just the feeling of separateness torn down, without having these other deeper truths realized. Like the dissolution of separateness is the first step. Of course im not talking from experience here.

Thank you everyone for the comments. <3 Since there was not a lot of answers, there is not much to go on here. I guess we can agree upon atleast two things here: 1. The "substance" of enlightenment in the classical sense is the lack of separateness inbetween I and outside world 2. This needs to be present in the person's everyday experience in order to talk about an "enlightened person" or the person has to have the ability to get into it on command. Meaning i would exclude people from the definition who has had enlightenment experiences (from doing yoga, meditation, psychedelics or in any way), but its not their standard way to function. Would you agree to this ? For the people who are commenting there is no such thing as an enlightened person, i understand you very well. My goal here is to create a definition, that we can all agree upon, when we are talking about this phenomenon (but have so many different ways of saying it). Sort of like creating an actualzed.org forum dictionary if that makes sense. If you have a different way to refer to this, like @UnbornTao did ("Directly conscious of her nature."), thats fair game, please submit your answers! (Maybe i'll just quote Leo from one of his videos to achieve this and then there is that. Lol)

Agreed. Still it is good to have a definition, because of the nature of spiritual talk and people. I want to bring clarity in the language, if that makes sense.

In my recent post I linked a video that helps you make sense of 10 dimensions. One have to watch that video multiple times to understand it. I discovered it like 10 years ago, so at this point I probably saw it like 30 times or more. I don't think it adds value to spirituality, I just thought it's a neat aid to imagine infinities. Also I believe it plays a role in string theory which is the most recent theory I believe?

After reading this multiple times i determined what you just said is quite genius, but you could really work on making it more understandable, if thats something you want at all. One thing though, i think you are overestimating how much psychedelics can do for people. I mean "as long as one's willing and doesn't resist" yes, but i find that quite unrealistic. Good night! As much as i hate the answer that genetics have to do with the quality of someone's consciousness, i cant deny it... Also i think early childhood/childhood has to play a big factor. Atleast as in how much one would reach their potential. Sort of like building a solid foundation.

@Hojo I think I understand what you are saying now. Yes, we experience time differently as the other dimensions. That's because what we experience (3d) is happening in time (4d). As you go further in higher and higher dimensions, you can see time is not a separate phenomenon, but one of the dimensions. I think Einsteins relativity theorem is also a proof for this. So time is not "completely separate" and it is a "physical dimension" if you will. What makes time different is just our perception. Anyway, the goal of my post was not to focus on the fourth dimension, but infinity. Isn't it mind boggling to think about?

Reforming the education system should be a HUGE topic in first world countries. So much human potential is wasted the way we go about life. Education is one of the corner stones of society and if we want get to the next level, it is crucial to develop a modern educational system. One of problem is that we cannot just completely reform education because it is connected to the way society is structured. it has to be done gradually with improvements on other areas.

@Hojo There is only the present moment and that can exist in infinite dimensions. But i still experience the world in 3d. I think our time perception is a different function of our mind. Memory maybe. But thats an important distinction to make in my opinion. (not in understanding infinity, but the 4th dimension) There is not a sense of ours that perceives 4d. That would let us literally see the future, no ? We can predict the future and without that human experience would not be possible, but we dont *see* an objects past or future. Im not an expert on the subject, im just making conversation. Its a decent way to contemplate sometimes.

If you compare this with the original minecraft for example, you can see that the original does not have actual 4th dimension to it, its just the movement of objects is what creates the illusion of it.
