You created the thread selling beliefs and 'knowledge' about free will but I replied implying that I wasn't interested in 'buying' the misperception of free will you are offering here because it is not as such...what you are offering is illusory.

It seems to me that people don't understand what 'free will' is...they treat the matter as if it's a binary of extremes, like a light switch, either it's on or it's off. It isn't.

It's encouraging that you appreciate clear speaking and I also appreciate that you do. I can recognize there may be some cultural linguistic frames of reference at play but even though we may be addressing the same thing we are saying very different things about it. James is saying we 'must' do something in letting go to be effortless and actionless, he tells us to let go of beliefs, ideas, expectations and everything for who 'wants' to be enlightened...want is desire, I would also suspect this is something to let go of too since Buddha listed this as the main thing even though James never mentions it. I was pointing out how this is an action, it's the efforting of beliefs from ideas with an expectation of attaining 'enlightenment'. They are setting up a requirement under conditions that are actually contradictory to what they suggest is the result of it but are just creating separation in between it. This is the topic of the thread and they proclaim it is the reason 'why enlightenment is difficult' I replied this is why it is difficult for them because they created it to be that way and that they are projecting it onto others...imagined others at that because well...teh solipsgasm.
