  1. Camus has been a great aid in lifting myself out of depression and creating a happy life. Also as a writer myself, he’s a great inspiration
  2. Ahhhh.. I think for me it's Avatar The Last Airbender. Such a beautiful show I've been watching ever since I was a kid
  3. Video games, like most things, become unhealthy if it is impulsive and gets in the way of working on things that are important to you. You need to be able to control yourself. If you cannot pace yourself and control your impulses, your mind is weak. For me it's a hobby and something I do on the side.I can control myself, so it doesn't get in the way of anything. Just one more thing that enriches my life.
  4. @Leo Gura I feel like it would greatly diminish the desire for some to splinter the community if there is a well moderated subforum where people can discuss mundane stuff, memes, etc. Probably something that people will do anyway, might as well accept that part of ourselves
  5. @Roy I feel like pretty much all of these ideas are really good. Nice thinking man!
  6. We collectively are attracted towards people and things that are happy, joyful, whole. Those who are broken, needy for affection, depressed most of time turn people away, like magnets being repelled. This seems strange to me. Why are people that need love the most the least likely to get it?
  7. @A_v_E I'm sorry, this might be helpful if you are working at some absolute level, but this doesn't help people day to day. For average people that are not in a place where full enlightenment is their life, working under the philosophy of trying to maximize happiness through normal means is a lot more helpful. Don't lose touch with 99% of the population
  8. Yep, the only thing we can do is try our best to project out these priniciples towards the world.
  9. I have no idea why the world is that way, it puzzles me every day. The idea that seems most reasonable to me right now, is that the world is a disinterested sandbox and we have to discover how it ought to be setup and then move it towards being that way. Until we get goverments that create infrastructures for this sort of thing, I suppose the only thing we can do is act according to these principles ourselves. Be loving towards those that need it most, even though we might not get much out of it.
  10. @A_v_E If you want you can destroy all boundaries and believe that everything is as it should be, perfect if you will. That's fine, but I think you are doing a disservice to your fellow man. If you spend time with a large amount of different kinds of people you will empirically come to the conclusion that there are those that are mentally healthy and happy, and those that are not. yep, if you value maximizing the happiness of all it is certainly handy to differentiate between those that are happy and those that are not.
  11. @RendHeaven It's kinda depressing, isn't it? People are attracted to happiness and joy, yet those that are in the deepest of depressive states need it the most.
  12. Spring Snow by Yukio Mishima
  13. @Carl-Richard do you think using cognitive functions without forming types would be useful? I feel it does get at something real.
  14. being lean and toned mostly comes from diet. In order to lose bodyfat you have to consume less calories than your maintenance or burn those calories with cardio. to build muscle in a balanced way where your body is built equally, focus on big compound movements. For upper body: Bench press, Overhead Press, Pull up, Rowing (bodyweight or with weights), (Deadlift) For lower body: (split-)Squat, Deadlift Some of these movements require mobility and good ROM to execute well. If you lack that, spend time getting good form first.
  15. this was nice but when you say this it doesn't mean anything lol
  16. @Carl-Richard It's incredible that man doesn't go insane lmao. The amount of shit he has to deal with is crazy
  17. @DrugsBunny How do you define intelligent? I feel like all conversations I've seen of her have been incredibly frustrating, she has no ability for nuance and honesty.
  18. @OceanRiver *slaps* "KEEP MY WIFE'S NAME OUT YOUR MFING MOUTH"
  19. I don't know what it is. All I know is that it's my experience and has been for a long time. I've felt hate for myself since I was about 10, as a consequence of how different I felt to everyone else. That internalized self-hatred has been excruciatingly hard to change. If the another truth presented itself to me, I would change my perspective. Since it doesn't, this is my life.
  20. I've been suicidal since I was 17, I'm 22 now. Hopefully at some point I can fix the underlying issues that cause it. It's very hard to be rational when your brain has learned to function a certain way, those emotions just take complete hold of you.
  21. @Phil King @Hello from Russia jesus, wtf are these responses lol
  22. @mojsterr If you interpret masculine containment as being a money-cow, you are not getting the point. And if that supposedly is the point, I don't want a partner. One person having to work excessively hard just to fit a role is utterly stupid.
  23. @Arcangelo No, I was asking if you were baiting for incel comments. Your views are so black and white, it's hard to tell if you're being ironic or not.
