@The Universe it usualy starts in the morning. 100 excuses to snooz your alarm and stay in bed a litle longer. During the day we love to tell ourselfs we do it later and make up tons of excuses not to do it. And now we want a magical solution to fix that. As we believe that takes les efford and is easyer. So we deside to read books and look for that magical awnser. After weeks, months, years. We realize there is no magical solution. Or hopefully now

This sounds to simple. But we ofter prefer to complicate stuff. Dont think hours and hours about doing it. Instead spend those hours doing it. Try catching tourself doing that Part of you already agrees your going to do it

Having 2 dogs i disagree . Personality is quite a huge concept that includes biological factors. Without mind only a bag of water is left

Just want to say. Buddah does but buddism doesnt. Take all buddah said literaly and keep in mind the time difference. Buddists would disagree, then again barly any are enlightend

On a level yes. All are open to change and in that sence a illusion. When we mentaly mastrubate we can disagree about that

@Tuomas emotion is a good attachment indicator. When you have a emotional response to a thought investigate it.

As in forcing yourself to do something you dont feel like doing?

I would suggest listening to what enlightend people have to say and stay away from religion.

For any thought to lead to a emotional response in a sence attachement is required. Pain/suffering from negative thought therefor is equal to joy/pleasure from positive thought. The duration of this attachment or even the attachment itself is completly under your control. PD gives you tools to modify and remove attachments and enlightenment transends the complete system where all becomes optiomal in a sense.

@Bugs you could compair it to being blind your whole life and then being able to see. You dont believe this at the core. But all mental suffering is self inflicted. When you are enligthend all this becomes clear and optional. So in comparison it feels good. On the other hand the feeling good part remains to be ego.

Preference. And some other none energy magical things (ex micro expresion response) Depth if you can call it that does have a huge affect on how the ego behaves. Regardless of it always being observed

By not believing religious dogma.

This can be experianced in a sence with SDS (no move meditation). First there is pain and then nothing more then a unlabled sensation.

@Callum A agree. good and bad can be boiled down to nature and delusion. Survival makes us avoid danger and thus prefer peace over war. Delusions however have total freedom; one can become a love and peace preacher or mas murderer. It is only the ego that deems one superior over the other.

Well depends how anon you want to be. Latest windows do contain spyware. And one should not forget the technical security risks (Trojans, hijacking, ect). TAILS is a good out of the box Linux distro. And you can run it with virtualbox under windows. Or even better boot it from USB (recommended if you liv in like North Korea or something). None the less, never expect 100% privacy.

Google etc at most indexes 90% of the web. If you want to see the rest or liv in a country where they sensor everything its great. Just dont do this on a windows machine if you want privacy.

@PureExp All desire is ego, at-least in my definition. As for the liberation part, that what remains doesn't ask those questions. The ego remains but in a scene becomes totally optional.

@Haloman Need is a big word. The ego wants it, and unless it gets it it will compensate. With shortcuts i mean, everyone always looks for a magical solution. We have a tenancy to mentally masturbating about doing something instead of doing it. I encourage you to pay mind to how much you think about doing stuff and how much stuff you actually end up doing. A simple none realistic but true example: You could read 20 books on how to get out of bed on time in the morning. Or you could just get out of bed when your alarm goes of. You can either do it right away, or spend time on 20 books to realize that. The ego prefers the 20 books / the magical solution, that doesn't exist. I can relate to the girls part, as i had a really shy ego. But i can tel you its all self inflicted suffering and delusion. Imagine that instead of thinking what to say and do so much, you would have done 1% of it. What would be now? Thinking: o that's a good looking girl, what should i say to her, what does she think about me, what if she thinks i am ugly..... etc... etc....etc. has zero effect on reality and only screws you. Simply be aware of the fact that your doing it and when you are doing it, and soon you will realize its insanity and therefor stop doing it. (it does take some time do, but it did wonders for my ego when i still related to it).

@Haloman Spend the next 20 years looking for shortcuts to realize there are none OR do that now. Unless you trancend your ego is stuck with the pyramid.

@ExtraAwesome sounds like its not. What i mean is you created 2 egos and there now fighting each other. Just try to recognize the ego. In a sense, apart from putting thoughts in your head it has 0 power over you. It comes down to you paying attention to it and cherishing it. ( note: supressing/tryimg to ignore, is a extreme version of attention.)

There is nothing beyond from where you are asking. The ego can ask all it wants, but the answers in a sense are before the ego and therefor can not be labeled by it.
