If we did that, it wouldn't be Democratic at all. The whole point of a Democracy is that people can elect the person they like the most. Sometimes that means having fascist as president when the country is ravaged by fear.

Except the manifestations two years ago against the raise of energy and oil price, nothing serious that I can't remember. Even when the far right almost last elections ago, things were pretty calm for the most part. When I see what happens in the US, in eastern EU and basically everywhere else in the world, it seems like we are the most carebear people in the world in the West/North EU.

One thing to note, is that all those psychology bias are way more easier to use on people with lower cognitive capabilities, which is a reflection of the environment they live in, which they don't fully have control (you don't control where you are born, who your parents are etc ...). So it's important not to demonize those people, they are only "stupid" because, in a sense they have to. Trump is just intuitively pushing all those buttons because (funnily enough) it is a reflection of his own inabilities to not fall for those traps himself. We are VERY lucky to live in the part of the world we live to be able to see through that, don't forget that
