Was that your first awakening or an awakening you've had after being totally stuck in ego survival mode for an abnormally long stretch? I ask because I've only experienced any "difficulty" in the very early going and with the sober realizations. I wasn't freaked out per se but there was something akin to shock or surprise followed by what I can only call sadness with the knowledge that I was completely alone.
