  1. "Only" is a red flag. Assertions phrased in this way are almost always false. The resonance can also come from shared experiences: being born, having parents, witnessing thunder, opening a gift, fear of the unknown, desperation, panic, longing, etc... It's a natural consequence of being human.
  2. In all seriousness, what you're observing many describe as "birth-pangs". The ass-hattery is a natural consequence, or perhaps collateral damage, of major transition.
  3. In relation to the Divine all is omnipresent and concurrent. There is no manipulating.
  4. Traditionally, it's done thru visualization and affirmation.
  5. death and dying are among the greatest mysteries of the human condition. Contemplating these mysteries, among others, is a way of triggering mystical experiences. They're literally awesome and wonderful.
  6. Evil is pleasure derived from malice. It's a type of vitality which develops constriction, isolation, and craving.
  7. Only? No. That's one way to appreciate it. Another way is realizing the essence of the gift which is beyond its material wrapping as a manifestation of eternity.
  8. the alternative is to breathe. just breathe. You can do all those things. But you don't need to. It's OK. Follow the breath with the mind's eye. The mind follows the breath. The heart follows the mind. One breath at a time. Follow it and relax.
  9. "God gave you a backside so they can watch you while you walk away."
  10. "The tallest ladder is simultaneously descending the deepest depths."
  11. May I interject? The illusory obstacle in reconciling Truth ( capital T ) and Love ( capital L ) dissolves when both are understood as energetic not in stasis. If so, Love is better described as Loving, an ongoing event, and Truth is better described as Revealing-Equivalence. Using these more accurate descriptions, yes, Love = Truth = Consciousness.
  12. "Ideas are like a salad bar."
  13. In a healthy relationship, the pleasure comes from being with the other person while they are happy. Displeasure comes from awareness of their discontent, If one of the participants is bored, and the other doesn't care, doesn't notice, doesn't make an effort to change for the future, then it's not a healthy realtionship.
  14. FWIW: sometimes, men aren't the best at giving advice to women. The difficulty is more pronounced if there is a cultural mismatch. It appears to me that it's exceptionally difficult to feel special and whole as a woman in most communities in America. It's different being a man.
  15. I don't think being self-centered is the problem in this case. It's perfectly natural ( and necessary ) to focus on oneself if basic creature comforts aren't being met. inescapable limited discomfort from constant pressure nothing is enough ^^ the rat race ^^ You're trapped in a maze, but you're seeking something much more precious than cheese. Specific examples of the projection would be ideal. Lacking that, I suggest a counter-intuitive approach. If I'm right and the "self-centered" label is a trick of the mind concealing something else, then, probing deeply into the self will reveal the roots of the problem. ( roots plural because when someone is struggling it's rarely just one root cause. It's usually 2 or 3 which nurture each other in a sort of "unholy" feedback loop. )
  16. Because there's nearly infinite layers of abstraction distinguishing finite and infinite. It's like making tea. Fire and water are brought together peacefully via the layer of abstraction, metal.
  17. Here's another one. Have you heard the pickpocket analogy? . Which is more skillful? A thug or a pickpocket? Just as the pickpocket is more skillful than a thug, an imperfect creation which is forever improving is far more impressive than a perfect creation held in stasis.
  18. ALL good, omnibenevolence = "for the sake of goodness" ALL good, omnibenevolence =/= "lacking all bad"
  19. 1) Tragedy brings people together. it forces distinction and focus on what matters most. 2) Lacking ANY bad would not be a "good" outcome either. Ask yourself? Would it be "good" if there was no possibility for harming another? People would be punching each other into a bloody mess lacking any harm to themselves or each other? That's bizarre, not good. 3) The question presumes that the sum of a child's choices are null at birth and the child's essence / being / existence terminate when their physical body ceases. There is no good reason to assume this to be true with any significant certainty.
