Relative. I choose as ideals: Expansion of consciousness. Deepening of understanding. Appreciation of beauty. Spiritual development in its myriad of circus acts.

There is no magic wand to fulfilling ego's desires if that is what you are wondering. Not so far as I have yet to find. If what you want is high consciousness & comprehensive understanding, it will be dedication to the craft. Meditation. Contemplation. Expanded state exploration. Dream state exploration. Highest quality body/brain fuel you can find. Open-mindedness. And more... To me it sounds like you are incorrectly conflating limited personal self for absolute self/consciousness/god. This is very dangerous. Do not get these mixed up. -
This is far beyond my realm of knowledge. I know as a personal fact that desparation is a result of Insecurity. Become an Iron Anchor within yourself and you will no longer experience such issues.

An additional benefit to this is you may find yourself being able to burn through the mid-night energy much quicker and fall asleep again. & due to the mindfulness you may be more aware within any dream states which shall grace your awareness, this, approached correctly, will often also assist in spiritual development.

I also typically set a timer, not as a strict limit that I must meet or surpass, but rather as a way to keep track of the quantity of time I remain in concentration for. I feel meditation has more importance with the depth & quality of observation, rather than strictly how long you sit still 'waiting' for the timer to go off. If the attitude is waiting out the clock you are not approaching mindfulness correctly. I like to find a direction out in the visual field without distraction, and focus on the raw experience being uptaken directly by my awareness. When you meditate, you should find at least moderate interest in your direct experience, this includes thoughts, emotions, visual data, sounds, sensations, any desires, wants to 'go do something else', or unconscious urges to distract from the observation. These experiences are all extremely fascinating if you are interfacing properly with direct perception during a meditative session. For me, Meditation & Contemplation are two sides of the same coin. They work with each other to advance the practice of both. The method I would recommend is to keep a pen & a note pad on your lap, so as to record any insights. Allow for the mind to explore various contemplative directions. This assumes you have a basic foundation for asking questions, & are able to keep a focus on a given contemplative goal for a relatively fixed range of time. Sometimes I do not interact with the notepad at all during the period of time I set aside to meditate. This is perfectly okay. The mind has a tendency for distraction and insights will only arise some of the time. Expect to find yourself lost in monkey mind, narratives, emotional baggage, and uncomfortable sensations, such as wanting to move or go distract one's self. If you have an itch for christ's sake scratch it. This is not meant to be torture. You want to be able to find comfort in the discomfort. If you can do that, as it turns out, you are no longer uncomfortable with the discomfort. But really it should go deeper than this, it should become an existential inquiry into the nature of your being. This is where contemplation experience really comes in useful. You should begin to find great Joy, Beauty, & Serenity in the Fascination of Awareness with itself.

You can utilize those waking hours of the night in order to do deep meditation or contemplation, with little distraction. I find, when I wake up in the middle of the night is some of the best time for me to focus on inner work. I think the body has ways of providing the necessary conditions to facilitate our spiritual development.

People misunderstand relative silence & absolute silence. Individuals seem not to have the distinguishing capabilities to see them both. Awareness easily gets caught in relative silence, without seeing beyond into the absolute. To differentiate Is a function of consciousness having self aware insight It is not really a function of the human so as to see this, but at the same time it is

The way a song floats, dancing within the conscious field, a phantom-like slipping-by, what exactly is it? Why do we find it so beautiful? Because it cannot be held? Nothing can lock it into place? If you could somehow lock a song's slipping notes into place would it no longer be music? A tango of brief conscious arisal, momentarily held, to dissipate once more. But what exactly is music? Where exactly does it occur? Why do we love to listen to the elapsing of it's disappearance? Where do they notes come of? Where do they go? Why do they go? What is the allurment of this passing? How long can a tone be held before it is no longer music? How long can the space between notes last before it severs the steady flow? What is it about this steady unsevered flow of severed bits & pieces that hooks us to it? what is so special about it? Does music seem to have a spacial quality to it? Where is this space? Occuring in abstract conscious being? A lullaby to lure you to sleep? Or a beautiful berceuse in order to pull you out of slumber? How softly can a song be played before the underlying silence becomes music too? Silence: the eternal orchestra? The never ending music?

In the purest sense of these words Silence=Consciousness Silence=Infinity Silence=Beauty Silence=Love Silence=Formlessness Silence=Imagination Silence=Truth Silence=Absolute Unity No matter what appearance is rising within it, Silence itself remains steady.

It goes deeper than that. Without Silence you dont even get to have random sounds. Silence is the consciousness upon which music may occur. The exact Silence 'within' which music arises, Is the very same silence upon which visual data exists. (music itself is also consciousness, but as specific restricted form) Silence is Pure Imagination.

@Lyubov You got to understand, when you go deep in this work, there arises a sort of 'duty to share' that runs deeper than any logic or emotion. It is a certain skill in & of itself to understand what is appropriate to share, + exactly how & when. -
