  1. @r0ckyreed It'll be obvious when you see them. Fresh mushrooms are similar to what you'd see from edible mushrooms at a grocery store, and dry would be completely dehydrated and stiff, also referred to as "cracker dry". If someone is selling psychedelic mushrooms, it's very likely they'll be dry. Fresh Dry
  2. I'm guessing it's a misunderstanding. There's no way r0ckyreed is getting fresh mushrooms unless they actually know a cultivator who freshly picked them. I'm betting the mushrooms will come dry, in which case, it's very likely no further drying is needed, and they can just be stored as-is.
  3. This sounds correct. I've heard the caps are stronger, but I've never researched to see if this is true. If you have a grinder, it'll give the lemon juice more surface area to perform the conversion, but just chopping them into pieces is fine as well. Consuming it all would ensure you don't miss anything. Like OBEler, I definitely don't recommend 2g. 1g dried or less would be a pretty safe bet for your first time. You could increase slowly from there for your next trip. That'd work fine in the short term. halfknots may be your best resource here for mushroom info. It seems like they may have been a cultivator at one time.
  4. @r0ckyreed I agree with them. The active molecule that you need for tripping is psilocin, which mushrooms don't contain very much of. They're mostly psilocybin, which is just a precursor that needs to be converted to give you the desired effects. When you put the mushrooms in lemon juice, the acid will perform a similar function as what would occur in your stomach, and it'll convert into psilosin in the shot glass. This saves you the considerable discomfort from it having to occur inside your body. Plus it'll take effect quicker and with more oomph.
  5. lol definitely not. I can only imagine it happening in a very calculated murder attempt or something.
  6. @aurum Aw come on, man. You really want to deconstruct their beliefs? Is it worth it in this case? Their signature says they're the Lord Jesus Christ. I don't think you'll be able to pop them out of that opinion lol. But I admit, it'll be interesting to see.
  7. This reminds me of a segment from this Daniel Schmidt interview below. For myself and many others, the question of what it's like to cross that bridge and what it'll be like afterward almost becomes a barrier to doing what's needed to actually get there. It's helpful to see it spoken of in positive terms, when it's usually spoken of ominously, as if you'll be stripped bare in a negative sense.
  8. No problem. Yeah, there's an important distinction I should make. When I say they're benign, I'm speaking specifically about the mystical vibe laced within the chemicals' effects themselves. On the 5-HT2A psychedelics, the vibe can be straight up threatening, as if an ultra-powerful being has set their sights upon you and are bombarding you energetically with their malicious presence and cruel intentions. It's fucked, and I'm just tired of taking that chance, even if sometimes it's a loving being filling you with peace and gratitude instead. With 5meo and malt, I don't get anything comparable, and it's mostly a neutral vibe. That's not to say the experience itself can't be turbulent, but it's a different kind of turbulence that feels more internal, and caused by my own misalignment with God and the sacred moment. It's a type of challenge that I can overcome by my own ability to let go and assume the natural spiritual state.
  9. Alright, so here's where I may split a little from the common opinion. Hopefully it's not too offensive to others. I recognize the power of malt, and I see how it has similar characteristics that attracted me to 5meo. That includes the benign nature, the strong potential for causal-level realization, the energetic activation and purification aspects, and more. So as a tool for consciousness, I suppose I'd put it second only to 5meo. But it's a distant second for me, because I just don't feel quite right on it. There's a much heavier stimulant quality, which is extra uncomfortable for myself as an ex-stimulant user. And there's also something else I can't quite put my finger on. It's as if 5meo is dead center on target for assisting endeavors in consciousness, and malt is ever so slightly off target. Like it's missing a few subtle but important aspects that are present with 5meo. And this last reason is also subjective, but it feels more like a drug if that makes sense, whereas 5meo feels like I've drank from the holy grail lol. So I do mostly like it, and I'd 100% use it if 5meo weren't an option, but luckily I don't have to make that choice. I'm curious to try mipt though. Like you, it could end up in my top three.
  10. Thanks for chiming in, glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks so. At this point, I'm about ready to go exclusive with 5meo. All other psychedelics that work more on 5-HT2A are just such a crapshoot on what kind of trip you'll end up with. Sure, sometimes it can be amazing, but even DMT and mushrooms can have powerfully sinister vibes, and I'm just no longer in the mood or see the need to deal with it when 5meo is already the superior tool for consciousness and higher states, in addition to its vibes always being benign. Thank god it exists.
  11. For sure, I do agree that it can fit the bill for a psychedelic introduction, as long as the dose is within reason. Even that can be tricky though, since you can't precisely measure the active ingredients, and mushrooms can be pretty variable in potency. I guess when I'm giving the advice, I'm drawing on horrific mushroom experiences of my own from when I was younger. It's the advice I'd give myself if I could.
  12. There's a counterintuitive argument that DMT and 5-MeO-DMT are actually better for beginners. Mushrooms require a real commitment in terms of time, and it's not a ride you can easily get off once it starts. Right now, it's difficult for you to understand how 4-6 hours can feel when psychological time has disappeared during a trip. Another factor is that mushrooms can be unpredictable in their effects. DMT actually falls into this category as well. It's only 5-MeO-DMT that's more benign in this way, and likely to give you a similar if not identical experience every time. As long as your doses are low/medium, DMT and 5-MeO-DMT are superior for beginners imo. And probably just superior overall.
  13. Sure, eating them straight up or in a smoothie would work. Whatever gets them in your stomach.
  14. Like a few others mentioned, lemon tek is probably best. The acids in the juice supposedly convert the psilocybin to psilocin, so the conversion doesn't have to occur in your body. It makes them hit harder and quicker, with less unwanted side effects.
  15. I've seen negative things in trip reports, like feelings of drunkenness and intoxication rather than the illumination we're all used to from psychedelics. It's interesting that this mushroom appears in a lot of mystical symbolism, because it sounds like the experience sucks lol.
  16. I'd be interested to see your answer as well, since it sounds like your practices and the way 5meo affects you are both similar to myself. For me, a significant lasting change has been the activation of the subtle aspects of my being. I suppose it's the sambhogakaya, the cohesive medium between the nirmanakaya (physical body) and the dharmakaya (God). It's also called the "transformation body", because it's the mechanistic nuts and bolts that make all this possible in the relative world. Similar to the physical system of organs a human body requires for life. It's often ignored and even denied by virtually everyone for some reason, even though it's being activated without their knowledge every time they go into heightened states, and even just in the background in their everyday lives. Though I've noticed you mentioning it with accurate descriptions and appropriate reverence from my perspective.
  17. I've tried to answer this question a bunch of times on the forum. I can't find one of my more detailed responses, but here's a quick summary I posted recently.
  18. You can just eat them raw. I strongly recommend starting at 1 gram at most, because 2 grams can really surprise you with its strength, depending on individual factors relating to yourself as well as variability in the mushrooms' potency. It's pretty much a guarantee that the current version of yourself can't comprehend how nightmarish a bad trip can be, so it's worth starting slow. You can store them in a cool dark place and they should last for years. Even more ideal would be the addition of an airtight container and a desiccant. You can go into it with the intention to contemplate consciousness, but I'm guessing you may just end up spending the whole time having your mind blown from your first experience of the extreme alteration of consciousness caused by psychedelics. Especially if it's your first time using any substance at all. Make sure you're in a comfortable location where you don't need to worry about anything for ~4-6 hours. I'll add on that if your goal is to do the kind of consciousness practices that lead towards enlightenment and that type of thing, 5-MeO-DMT is way more powerful and consistent with pushing you in that direction. Mushrooms can be a chaotic madhouse and a real tossup as to what kind of trip you'll end up having.
  19. There's a Buddhist saying regarding the likelihood of being born human that essentially goes: A precious human life is as rare as a blind sea turtle which, upon surfacing from the sea once every hundred years, happens to emerge popping its head through a tiny loop.
  20. Nice description and interesting implications. This helps bridge the concept for those of us who haven't experienced it. If in the future, 5meo use is adapted with a precise and efficient delivery system using technology, I wonder if it could be used to consistently push the human experience to unthinkable levels. Perhaps it'd involve some kind of permanent implant or something.
  21. @Jodistrict I think that'd say more about the container the facilitators in Mexico are choosing to use to understand the experience than what it really is. And also, the idea that they've never heard of enlightenment; I guess maybe that'd be due a mystical tradition not being prevalent in Mexico? The perennial philosophy isn't just some toy for modern Westerners to play with and think about, it's a comprehension of the fact of spirituality that's passed like a line through all of history and found around the world. It includes within it the knowledge that humans can transform and pass recognizable signposts along the way. There's not a doubt in my mind that the 5meo experience is closely related to typical and historical mystical revelation via sober means. I'd practically bet my life on it. The facilitators certainly aren't wrong about it being a force for powerful healing, but there's just more to the story as well. Sure, fair enough, this is a great way to be, and it keeps you open and free to not become bound by restrictive concepts. I'm just making this post to express how strongly I feel that the endogenous neurochemical 5meo is 100% related to states of meditation as well as this thing we call enlightenment. Just my opinion though.
  22. I'm not convinced that someone's level of logical intelligence and open-mindedness has a strong 1:1 relationship with their spiritual perception. I kind of view them as separate attributes, with spirituality perhaps being more similar to kinesthetic and intuitive skills, such as sports. An athlete wouldn't be expected to know a great deal more simply because of their accomplishments on the field. Obviously though, it can be helpful to be able to keep all possibilities available in your mind, because human life is pretty bizarre as it is with what we've already realized exists. Who knows how much more bizarre it can get. I should add on that at extreme levels of spiritual awareness, I believe the relationship between logic and spirituality does fuse, and then you do know practically everything in a crazy transcendent manner. This one's just a theory based on my own experiences and many years of researching and being aware of spirituality.
  23. All the way to a virtually supernatural degree imo. A person utilizing their own biology could meditate to the point of full ego death, where individuality is dissolved and they return to the ever-present source of energy and all things which exists before the potential of form is even manifested. The "flavor" of this realization permeates backwards into their manifest lives and creates an empowered non-dual perception in everyday reality. I think even your standard gurus like the ones you listed can get to this point, and some very likely have. But if we look past the common gurus who are highly visible and public, I believe there's those who have gone even further into skills and abilities that'd be shocking, even to someone pretty well versed in spirituality.
  24. An argument can be made that 5meo is capable of pushing someone past what they could ever reach naturally, at least in terms of singular ultra-deep states. I guess it'd be somewhat analogous to a weight lifter using steroids, where their natural hormonal limit is surpassed and they can become much larger and stronger than was previously possible. Personally though, I wouldn't doubt that the natural limit is still profound beyond comprehension, and perhaps all that's needed for an enlightened human life.
