Huh, not the worst reasoning on your part when looking specifically at the traits he often displays. I'd have a difficult time arguing he doesn't show assertiveness and other masculine qualities. Still though, I think there's at least something to be gleaned from a deficiency in testosterone. Perhaps Destiny would be that much more masculine if he was in line with the expected male physiology. And perhaps a deficiency like that would manifest in ways that don't obviously present as feminine but are still technically within that area of the spectrum. Regardless, I don't see how my comment was worth assuming you and I are so different. It seems like such a counterproductive way to go about things. Even for someone like me who avoids the negative aspects of contention, I found myself instigated in wanting to dunk back on you in some way. It's just a poisonous form of dialogue that I think we should avoid.

You're the one who added "and therefore irrational." If you go back and read the first part of my earlier post, I'm in agreement about Destiny's intelligence. I'll concede that it's not like he acts dainty and carries a purse, but I don't think I'm way out of line in assuming that a deficiency in the sex hormone specifically responsible for male development would cause a lessening of masculine traits in comparison to what they could/should be. I'm no expert in this area, but isn't a modification of hormones a large part of gender reassignment science?
-
Are you questioning whether a drastic difference in sex hormones might play an identifiable part in someone's tendencies?

Despite my differences with his opinions, I do enjoy listening to Destiny, mostly due to how intelligent he is. He has some kind of genetic gift that puts him in a different league. He's definitely full of hate and venom, but still an interesting listen for the purposes of seeing how far reason can actually go. You make a good point about his femininity, though. He's mentioned many times how his total testosterone was in the 200-300 range when he last had it tested. There was no mention of his free testosterone, but I'm guessing it's low as well. There's already a perception of a masculine/feminine split between the competing ideologies right now, and it makes me wonder just how much biology is playing a part and whether there's some identifiable physical traits that would cause one to be more inclined one way or the other.

Alright, fair enough; maybe it's a misread on my part. I suppose we all present our methods of being in different ways, and perhaps it's myself who's making the incorrect assumptions. -

I'm actually not as familiar with any of Tom's material. He could very well be somewhat of a con man himself I guess, lol. I just tuned in because I'm always hoping for someone who can match Destiny's skill in constructing a persuasive argument. -

I don't want to rehash his entire argument, but it basically came down to him sensing more of a threat from Kamala Harris despite Trump's obvious flaws. It's a different weighing of variables to come to a conclusion that can appear counter-intuitive, depending on the person who's interpreting it through their own lens. You can definitely hate him for it, as so many seem to do, but you'll come across tons of people in your life who don't share your values. I've found that mindfully choosing how you handle those differences is preferable to the alternative. Outbursts of negative emotion won't help anybody, especially those with aspirations of looking past the illusion of their own individuality. I saw you recently mention how you've noticed some people highly value harmony, and you're not wrong about that. -

For sure, I think it's helpful for the more left-leaning individuals on this forum to hear the counter-argument from someone who's not named Cletus. I get the feeling they've built a caricature of their opponents in their minds that's only a partial representation of reality. -
Your knowledge of history certainly blows mine away. I was always a dunce in that area and never had the interest needed to actively pursue it. If there's parallels between the modern US and the Nazis from the time before they committed their atrocities, it'd probably be more effective in changing minds for those similarities to be highlighted more often. I only ever hear the simplistic "Trump is Hitler" kind of talk. A cautionary warning might be taken more seriously if it was better understood what occurred during that time period where the Nazis were considered mostly benign, at least in comparison to what they eventually became.
-
Well, you have made a better case for the comparison than what I was aware of before asking the question, but I still think it's a little hyperbolic and opportunistic. I think the use of that comparison is meant to strategically shift people's perspectives before an upcoming election, and that's allowing exaggeration to play a part. If we're really talking about the Nazis, they did some serious shit. But I guess I do see where the rally opened the door to allow the comparison in the first place. They have themselves to blame for making it possible.

Yep, an interesting debate between a couple very sharp fellas. I watch Destiny all the time to get a clear perspective from his vantage point. My best guess would be that Trump fully believes he was cheated out of the election, and after all legal avenues failed, he attempted to steal it back. So kind of like a "two wrongs making a right" in his mind. -
I may have missed the reasoning for the comparison amidst all this noise. Is it simply because a Nazi rally was also held in MSG in 1939, or is there some other factor that makes the two events similar?

Another interesting one. -

Sure, I did try it out yesterday, and I noticed it wasn't showing up in the search results, depending on which search terms were used. And then I noticed it is showing up today, pretty much regardless of the search terms. The timing does seem suspicious. It's annoying that we're left with uncertainty around the exact cause. -

Here's an awesome debate by a couple of guys who are able to eloquently articulate their position. It's worth a watch if anyone wants to take the time. -

Yeah, stating it as a cold hard fact can be a dangerous game. If the argument is instead made with an appropriate amount of qualifiers and nuance, it'd probably end up being more useful towards an effort in understanding the truth. -

From working in tech, this is my steel man argument as to what may be happening. Though at the same time, YT is ran by humans, and I wouldn't put it past humans to bend circumstances to their own advantage. As you say, the truth is hidden behind an opaque screen, and all we really have is the fact that it's not currently easy to search for. I suppose when a new episode comes out, someone can test if it can be found by searching the names of Rogan and the guest. -
I guess you're asking some fair questions. I honestly don't know if a truly enlightened society should be devoid of the kind of humor we've enjoyed up until now, which often comes at someone's expense but simultaneously isn't intended to be cruel. Rather, it's a way to make humorous observations that often go unspoken and become repressed by the general populace, and it probably serves the function of a type of blow-off valve so people don't feel gaslit into oblivion. I believe that's the kind of thing Tony was doing here. I'd be shocked if he had any hate whatsoever in his heart for Puerto Rico. When I refer to "othering," I'm talking about an expression of legit revulsion, followed by a feeling of being something other than what it is you hate. This produces a cascading effect that is self-destructive and can even lead to atrocities. In comedy, despite one party often being picked on a bit, there's the opportunity for everyone to come together in a shared recognition of a humorous situation. Ideally, it's not supposed to be mean-spirited. Now when you're talking about a political rally to promote future leaders for an upcoming election, you may have a point as to how appropriate this particular type of comedy is in that venue. Even if Tony doesn't actually dislike Puerto Rico, sensitivities are already turned up to 11, and it'd be wise to reserve that jabbing form of humor for other occasions. If I have any objections to all the outrage I'm seeing, it's that this is how comedy has always been, but maybe there's merit to the idea of there being a proper time and place for everything. I won't even try to defend Trump telling attendees to hit each other. I think it's fair to say that should be straight up rebuked, lol.
-
I'd say there's some multi-level irony at work here, with the left's hostile reaction to satire retreading the very thing that pushed comedians like Tony Hinchcilffe away in the first place. A lot of these guys lived in California and voted Democrat for most of their lives before the sudden shift in what's considered acceptable to joke about. Though if I had to guess the reason for such an overreaction, it's probably just the left grasping at any advantage they can get in these last few days before the election.
-
That's true, it's almost seen as more relevant that it occurred than what the content actually was. I did watch it, mostly to hear if anything new slips out about UFOs. Nothing really did, though. And the rest was just a display of two guys talking for a few hours. It's interesting if you want to see Trump have a personable one-on-one conversation for so long, which I guess is something we've never seen before.

Maybe, but I wouldn't be surprised if on a physical level the serotonin receptors in the stomach play a part in someone's susceptibility to psychedelic nausea.

Sure, and that may end up being true, but a drowning person will grab for whatever has a chance of saving them. Their alternative is to simply fall in line with what got them here in the first place. It's hard to blame them when the choice is made from a position of desperation rather than luxury. -

That's a reasonable comeback. It's true that othering can definitely work both ways. Something to watch out for. -

This pretty much sums up my thoughts on what's happening. There's an awful lot of focus on Trump in particular, but I feel like we'd be seeing something very similar even if he was never born. -

I do get the impression they think anyone who doesn't strictly toe their line of reasoning must obviously be inferior, even down to their capacity for conscious experience lol. If it was me, I'd choose a different way to co-exist with others.
