@Andrea Marchetti do you think nations will disappear? and if you don't have a system, what do you have?
-
@Yang Noctus hehe thanks for the compliment but I would feel like an impostor; like i said I don't know much about politics, but probably not much greater impostor than the humans we have up there right now.. this is so beautiful someone should paint this. eat the beast from the inside Moby seems to agree with me on the global system failure as well so i'll leave you guys with this little treasure of youtube: I'll grant you that it's quite depressing and very one sided. But it appeals to my nihilism which is why i like it even more lol

Found this today: The Cambridge Declaration on Consciousness *: We declare the following: “The absence of a neocortex does not appear to preclude an organism from experiencing affective states. Convergent evidence indicates that non-human animals have the neuroanatomical, neurochemical, and neurophysiological substrates of conscious states along with the capacity to exhibit intentional behaviors. Consequently, the weight of evidence indicates that humans are not unique in possessing the neurological substrates that generate consciousness. Nonhuman animals, including all mammals and birds, and many other creatures, including octopuses, also possess these neurological substrates.” * The Cambridge Declaration on Consciousness was written by Philip Low and edited by Jaak Panksepp, Diana Reiss, David Edelman, Bruno Van Swinderen, Philip Low and Christof Koch. The Declaration was publicly proclaimed in Cambridge, UK, on July 7, 2012, at the Francis Crick Memorial Conference on Consciousness in Human and non-Human Animals, at Churchill College, University of Cambridge, by Low, Edelman and Koch. The Declaration was signed by the conference participants that very evening, in the presence of Stephen Hawking, in the Balfour Room at the Hotel du Vin in Cambridge, UK. The signing ceremony was memorialized by CBS 60 Minutes.

So what are they exactly and how are they different?

@batfly he seems very confused indeed. Coming from another super confused person, I am guessing he means we are experiencing life for infinity (that's the message I got in the end?). But my impression from this video is there is a desperate search for positivity and imortality. Iike when he talks about the Japanese girl tortured and says " but it's all worth it in the end, everything is perfection". It makes me cringe. why cant we just accept the world is imperfect? And imortality because he says we never die, I am infinity etc. But I don't know, so many peeps on this forum say the same. I feel like humans need to give sense and value to stuff like our little lives, what if there is no such thing and you just die and that's that. Could anyone live with this idea or is it too painful and we need to go on about infinity theories? Just my thoughts, feels good to let them out, maybe I can be infinity now.

Yes, i can understand these benefits. But it seems to me there is not enough power in the citizen's hands. That the globalised market is controlling political governments and this market is controlled by a small minority of people. Also, decentralized doesn't mean it automatically brings war into the equation. You gave one valid example, maybe I can think of a counter example where decentralized was working for the people in peace and harmony. But I cannot think of one right now. Anyway, if we don't fight within our countries we are fighting overseas. Which is better? To be honest, the political system we have right now is indeed filling up some of society's needs: security, infrastructure, education, etc. But its not good enough. You might already be aware the environment is turning more and more hostile and poisonous for everyone. Some say we are at the brink of extinction. Maybe? who knows. But many signs do point in that direction. And it also seems that politics is not addressing this problem because they are too focused on finding out where the next big money is in the stock market, designing more golf courses, playing chess with Russia, or doing treasure hunt for oil. The bus driver is driving us into a wall. So if everyone could learn some bus driving skills and take over the wheel for a moment in turns, maybe we'd avoid the wall? And hit a tree instead lol. I don't know. This is my favorite phrase now: i don't fucking know.

This is interesting, a question came up in my mind when I read this, how do you know when you are genuinely attracted to someone ?
-
I thought about it and i believe what stays is an awareness. Apart from being caught up in the deep pain or love, there is something that knows this is happening and watching it. But , what was before you or i were born? There was no awareness..There was nothing. .so idk Hehe Yes I don't understand. Even this sentence, it makes no sense to me. If I don't understand how can I understand? It sounds like the enigmas we had to do when we were kids at a treasure hunt to find where the next location of the next hint would be. Just give me the fucking treasure Azrael goddamnit Ok this, so far so good. We are speaking the same language here. Nice metaphor, thanks. Okay And..Yea

Ah yes, I knew I'd forgotten a question, I think it's the most important actually; because you said all your frameworks come down when you trip. When you are done, do they come back in a mild form? Or are you a blanck paper with no more references. If you have no more references though, how do you move along in life?
-
I know it is really difficult to put words behind these things but if you can, what does this mean? @Azrael Yea probably it will be difficult for you to describe as well but I'll ask anyway: what is 'your own nature' you were forced to recognise? Also how does one know they've reached a breakthrough and can move up the drug ladder? And is there any 'normal ' life experience that you can think of which, how do I say, ressembles? To a certain extent, the experience of MeO? Just as an illustration. Thanks for sharing

You know actually, another problem is; if you are going to have a centralised system, you need to make sure the ones in charge are super intelligent and know what they're doing. And it's not usually the case. Some sort of big daddy for the politicians. Who smokes pipe and scratches his beard when he's thinking. Thats the kind of person you want in charge, not a little baby teenager who is still choking on his first puff of cigarette and making tantrums

I don't know much about politics, but I know something about nature which might be useful here. Some insects operate on what is called a decentralised system (eg. ants): each one of the insects have an active role in the colony and control is distributed equally among them. So they will act based on local information and the sum of these actions will give rise to an emergent property or dynamic. This is the opposite of what we have as a human species, we have a highly centralised system, where power is concentrated among a few of us who have control on 99% of the rest of society. I think the issue with politics is that the systems we have today are inherently problematic. Even if someone comes in with great ideas, they still need to play by the rules and that leads to little progress at best, or a yuge inflated ego at worst. Change the system, change the outcome. Yuge improvement.

Well I suppose it all comes down to what one values most. If you value fame, you will idolise those who are famous. Because they have an object you don't (fame). But imagine you have that object now and you are famous, are you going to continue idolising the other famous people the same way or will something change? So I'm not sure everyone idolises all rich/famous/pretty people because some people do not value these objects, but because our society does,it seems like at least the masses do. I think you nailed it in the last paragraph, it surely has to do with ego who wants to do things right and the easiest way is to see where massive approval lies. If 99% of people say the yellow cupcake tastes better than the red one, which will you pick? Now I wonder if the dalai lama/ mooji/leo/any gurus feel any different when they are talking to Donald trump or to his gardener. Something you might wanna ask them maybe? Leo? How do you feel when you talk to trump's gardener ?

To the risk of sounding like a heretic in this forum, is meditation really necessary? Or is awareness and mindful throughout the day enough? What do you think? Because both are about observing without judgement and then letting go right?

Ok, thanks peepsipeeps! That was all very helpful

This is a really difficult subject. From what I understand so far, it is that indeed energy never dies and so transforms in different ways. In this sense, you are immortal. However, your consciousness as you know it now, I believe this is what death is all about: the death of a unique consciousness. Of a unique ...perspective on life. But because our perspective always changes anyway (because you learn, you talk to different people, you grow and mature) I suppose one could argue that you die every moment and you are born every moment. And how does that differ from death of the physical being? The death you experience when your body functions shut down forever. And actually, I'm stuck there lol. I don't know. I need to think about this more.

@Dodoster ah ok , I think I see what you mean..so you are looking at it from this perspective : He is not limited to the body so he is everything and he is even the wall itself, he is the bricks etc and actually he doesn't really exist in reality outside of ego so he is nothing and there are no labels whatsoever outside of ego so nothing exists. ..right? Correct me if I'm wrong -
Exactly, I don't know if there is a difference. When I think about meditation, I think about someone sitting down and observing the breath. And letting thoughts pass like little clouds. And now awareness would be simply doing the things you do in your everyday life except you won't do it unconsciously but instead you will do all of these mindfully. Is that meditation though?
