The best self-help book is the one you learn from and more importantly the one who's concepts and advice you integrate into your life. Mastery is a great book because its concept is relatively simple but impactful (long-term effort and reward > short-term effort and reward). In my experience, you only really integrate one or two concepts/advice from any given book read. Mastery is mostly all about just this one concept.

There are a lot of low hanging fruit that the American government could implement to raise the standard of their police. For instance, there is no federally mandated training minimum. Bad and corrupt policing is due to a lack of resources and investment into quality policing in my opinion. People tend to meet the bare minimum of the standard set for them.
