I needed this trip to stop romanticizing Syria. yesterday I saw how whole towns are destroyed due to bombing and I’m here whining about something. I needed this trip so I can go back and focus deeply on my studies. Living here would be a nightmare for me even though I was born and raised here. I love Syria but I need to stop romanticizing this place. It’s affecting my mental health but this trip is also healing because it’s giving me a perspective of how lucky I am to be alive.
