  1. I'm always wary of trial by media and making judgements, more could be yet to come out. Its also hard to assess his intention but it does really seem like he was trying to cause harm and assert complete dominance over Floyd. Because he uses the knee it seems like some kind of official police hold but if you changed it slightly to him using his hands, say strangling or using a choke hold which essentially has the same effect as what he was doing, then it takes on a different context. Imagine a police officer having a suspect in a choke hold or strangling them for close to 9 mins while the suspect is telling them they can't breathe and then eventually dying because of this. From that perspective you'd say its definitely murder. So I get what Leo is saying, we haven't got all the facts and it's hard to prove intention but it really looks like he was trying to cause harm here. There were 4 of them they could've very easily restrained him without choking him
  2. This politics sub is really sounding out these 'coral' thinkers. I empathise as they're on their journey but I think it's getting to the stage of a massive distraction, we go to the level of discussing whether racism exists or why libertarianism is just unworkable and literally not working right now. I have no solutions but to be aware that these guys will not change positions and will not see nuance but ironically claim they think in systems, which is why they're definitely right ??‍♂️ If you are a 'coral' thinker consider that you don't know what you don't know and having a definite unmovable position as an expert let alone a layman on anything means that you will never actually grow or learn anything. If that is your position ask yourself why you are even on this forum
  3. There's a couple 100 unarmed police killings every year, it wouldn't be realistic to cover all of them. This has struck a nerve because of a variety of factors, underpinned by unfair treatment of black people in America. There's also many black people that get killed that we don't know about either. I always wondered why when there was a kid missing, certain cases would get worldwide exposure like the mccan case and others would get nothing but some flyers in the local area. For example it's rare to see a black kid go missing and get this exposure. A lot of it is based on what media companies think the public want to consume
  4. Good breakdown. Education i think is a massive thing, if theres equality there then we will start to see a big difference in poverty levels, it will take a long time, none of this is a quick fix. With a single incident, in a way its easy because we can get the officers involved arrested but it will only appease and will not change the root and so this type of thing will continue to happen
  5. I agree in that it's not clear what the protesters want, I think some organisation and leadership is needed in that regard, however there is a lot of change that is needed. Good place to start is that black schools get $23 billion less funding than white schools or even the fact schools are still segregated like this. Education is a big factor as it can have a massive effect on the trajectory of children's lives and if its not competitive with other types of people, then you'll always be at a disadvantage. https://www.npr.org/2019/02/26/696794821/why-white-school-districts-have-so-much-more-money Could look at drug laws, there's quite a few things that keep the status quo and a lot of black people are not happy with the status quo, don't have a lot of outlets to change this and so protesting seems a course of action to take. Also keep in mind very peaceful protests from Colin Kaepernick did happen and the result of which was him losing his job and being called a traitor and whatever else just for taking a knee at the national anthem. So what is the 'right' way to highlight these issues?
  6. I'm currently reading Religion of tomorrow, I'm about 70 or so pages in. I like it so far, it is a pretty hefty book so we'll see where it goes
  7. Cant argue with results! There would need to be more structure going forward, but yes looks like they can make some kind of change
  8. I think protests can work if it is clear what is being asked for. For example work unions protested and eventually got what they wanted ie fair pay or whatever. The Floyd protests and Black Lives Matter dont have a clear manifesto for what they want, this was the problem with Occupy Wall Street as well. There are many things supporters of BLM could ask for, more investment in black communities, a better education system, police that kill unarmed people to be prosecuted, but none of this is clear. So there needs to be a level of organisation when it comes to protests. Awareness can be a factor, although im not sure it doesnt aggravate as many people as it inspires. But awareness can be a positive thing and i have heard a lot of white people attempt to understand black people more because of this situation and it drums into the collective consciousness that this is an issue to be considered. So its more of a last resort but to see real change there needs to be a clear plan regardless of whos protesting, otherwise its just flexing
  9. @Recursoinominado The rebel wisdom video posted by @Jude_ is the best take on it. The doc is probably honest I don't know, but he has let this money making Dan Pena inspired side of him take over. He's exploited his followers and conspiracy theorists into donating money behind a claim of free speech against YouTube. Also during him being looked at more closely because of what he's been doing, it's come to light his courses have been a borderline scam, with many complaints and people have attempted to take him up on the money back offer only to be denied and have to go to their card companies. It's actually an incredible saga that's played out, with great debates on free speech and big tech. I think Rose really took on this unhealthy orange mindset at some point which is a shame as he had a lot of positives in terms of growth. Hopefully for him he learns from it when this all inevitably blows up in his face
  10. This guy has regressed majorly, he basically scammed his followers out of a £1. 5million for a 'digital freedom platform' after his David Icke interview got 'banned'. I kinda want to watch the doc but I can't take him seriously after seeing what I've seen of him recently
  11. Yeah there would need to be a rethink in that direction, ultimately police should be working for the people, in reality they act as a gang protecting each other and taking whatever orders are passed down from politicians. The problem is more that humans are not at a level where they can handle this type of power and not be corrupted, maybe most can but enough cant that its not working properly unfortunately. I think we will get there though
  12. Wrote this on another post, but probably more relevant here - The problem is really a systemic one, relying on 2 factors One is that the police have a lot of power in terms of being able to kill, according to statistics, officers have only been charged 4 times in the last 10 years for murder despite them killing a thousend people every year. I understand anyone can be carrying guns so it's a shoot first ask questions later mentally, esp given that there's no repurcussions. It can lead to a power trip from the officers and is a good argument against guns being legal. Second is that there is a lot of racism overt and implicit in America. The stars are that if youre a black man you're around 3.5x more likely to get shot by a police officer than a white man. This has been an ongoing thing in America, which has improved but still lingers in the psyche of many Americans, both in victim and perpetrater modes. So when you team up the fact that a group of people are given a license to kill and that some of these people maybe extremely racist you have what is playing out now and what will play out until some real reforms and rethinking is carried out. Riots and looting are from people have had to watch many people who look like them be continually killed and treated mis fairly. Remember Kaepernick took a peaceful knee about a very similar issue and lost his career and was ostracised by many as being unpatriotic, so how should you protest, what will actually bring change? If nothing changes and you're crticised for peaceful protests when a person is murdered, then there aren't many options left Some research if you're interested - https://www.pnas.org/content/116/34/16793

  14. Im not necessarily talking about a troll, im talking about this tactic of misinformation and calls to action used across the board. So i agree with you to an extent but the idea of 'power' being the main ones using it is missing out on the complexity of the situation. There are so many agendas going on, ive seen disinformation right wing documentaries go viral and normal people who are not right wing be taken in by them. People think theyre are escaping mainstream media but social media is an even bigger minefield
  15. @DrewNows all this stuff is entertainment man, fighting some society wide battle, its just stuff for your ego. Mainstream do it as well like there's always something terrible about to happen, if it happens I'll deal with it then. If your life was really in danger and you lived in a war zone or something you wouldn't care about this shit. Fear is one sure fire way to get attention, 24 hour news know and so do alt-news, same thing different content
  16. All levels below yellow are entrenched in their ideology, your lifestyle, career, friends, identity are all based around these beliefs that you have. So to move away from them would mean sacrificing the identity that youve been building since you were conscious. Its the same reason people dont change their political leaning or favourite football team often if ever. For example using one of the people you mentioned, JP, think about the consequences if he was to move up to green and not hold so tightly to his beliefs, all of his fans hes amassed who buy his books and see his lectures will no longer support him. From a survival, reptile brain perspective, there is no benefit for him moving up and taking on new ideas or beliefs. I know some muslim people who are literally just muslims because everyone in their culture is, they dont really follow or believe in it, its just a cultural thing that they think would be impossible to live without. Basically survival instinct
  17. Maybe, or maybe more people are typing angrily into their computers because theyre scared and others are exploiting that
  18. Genuinely great to hear, part of me was saying leave her to it she'll find her way, but i think if this forum has a purpose it is to help wake people up, so im glad you got the push back you required to re evaluate things, good luck going forward x
  19. Youre right in that it will play out as it plays out, most likely that will be a few protests and internet comments. I think the fear and anger comes from misunderstanding, most conspiracy theories and misguided movements proved wrong in the past have always come about through fear and misunderstanding, from Salem witch trials to Nazi eugenics to present day. It could be argued the governments could be more transparent with information which i think is fair, having said that there is information out there so people do have freedom to search this info out. But my point is that its proven to be a very successful tactic to take advantage of people in a fear state and the reason youre getting a ramping up of these theories is because those that want to get into power or cement their power are using it as a guerilla tactic by spreading misinformation online. This is a proven thing that happens with Russia and various other political interests for the specific intent to create disharmony, this happens on both sides of the political fence and those that are in fear and a lower consciousness state tag onto this misinformation as truth, because in a nuanced world it creates a black and white, good guy, bad guy dynamic, that gives the believer a certainty about reality. If you give into this fear you create a hell for yourself. But either way people can live in this realm but it wont have much affect on the population as a whole, these theories arent too different from fundamentalist religious beliefs and society can accept and make a space for them so i dont see what will be that different in this case
  20. Completely agree, conspiracy theories are not an evolution of human beings, theyre just aiming to shift from a current status quo to another. Its a regression because what theyre aiming to shift to is even more dogmatic than the original status quo. The evolution would be to see the pros and cons of the current system and work to build upon it, not tear it down. If we followed populist ideas it wouldnt surprise me if people started to get hanged without in town squares. The amount of hate i see spewed by people that believe these theories online as well as actual destruction and harassment in real life, how can something like this that is motivated be fear, ever be considered evolution?
  21. Sweden have 10x the amount of deaths per million pop (418) compared to their neighbours Norway with 43, Finland have 53 and Denmark 98. Despite the their no lockdown policy only 7.3% of the population have developed anti bodies - https://www.ctvnews.ca/world/sweden-isn-t-anywhere-close-to-reaching-herd-immunity-after-anti-lockdown-strategy-1.4950144 I was interested to see if their strategy would work but it really appears that it hasnt, this may change but i dont really see how. So basically 3000 or so people have died in Sweden that could have been avoided. If you extrapolate this strategy out to say America youre looking at a number toward a million, especially considering Sweden medically were prepared for this, had enough equipment etc. Thats not to say that fear did affect a lot of decisions but i cant see, looking at the evidence how the argument could be made that we shouldnt have locked down.
  22. Its just called 'Tyson', its was shot in 2009 so maybe pre-dmt Tyson, but still shows his growth. His life is fascinating, i dont think many people would have come through the other side if they had his upbringing. This is the doc on Amazon prime if you got it - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tyson-Movie-Mike/dp/B00ESQCP78 Couple other bits -
  23. I don't think you guys are giving him enough credit, he's quite a deep guy I think, he had a hard upbringing and subsequent career and some how came out the other side of it a relatively actualised person. He's spoken about how he was an animal during his boxing days and he has a detachment from who he was. I don't think it's about reclaiming glory and trying to be relevant, he seems content with his family and his podcast. I would recommend watching his documentary, very interesting. Check out this vid of him talking about dmt
  24. Yeah microdosing her is a better idea, you dont want the full trip!
