i think the Ukraine also got defence "guarantees" for getting rid of their nuclear arsenal. "Guarantees" are probably just not enough for Ukraine at this point, that's why they wan't to e in NATO so much.

the west is not just the u.s. though there's canada, australia, uk, germany, france, spain, netherlands, poland etc. smaller countries like sweden, swiss, denmark, austria, nz etc. and there are countries like japan and south korea which are also basically "west"

Exactly, it's not like NATO forced these countries to join. They wanted to join because they don't trust Russia imo

putin, his people and the very nationalistic russians want that many russians want more freedoms, right to protest etc. imo and if that means a more "westernised" russia for more freedoms, then so be it imo

often do have "good resolutions" and changes but easily get bored with them after a while and they fizzle out although i try to keep a meditative lifestyle often-ish

in a way this is a really dumb idea most will probably be killed in drone or air strikes but if they really have the urge to "fight" and risk their lives then defending the ukraine against russia might be one of the better causes out there imo
