@Carl-Richard I feel that if it only lasts a few hours at most, I will easily forget this. I’ve had some profound moments in life where I thought “this is it, life is changed forever”, but nope, a few days if not hours after I would forget this and go back to my usual self. Unless a trip lasts a month or more I don’t think it will have profound effects. -

What if you concentrate on the mind while relaxing your body? Focusing on breathing or doing yoga? -

@Vincent S won’t all these realizations be temporary though? The moment the trip ends, wouldn’t you come back to your normal self? The reason why negative thinking occurs is because that is what you are used to, so they say in order to stop the negative thinking, you have to replace it with positive thinking and do it until you become used to that and reprogram yourself. So technically, if you are consistently are trying to actively visualize love, being fearless, reasoning out with yourself how problems are imaginary, shouldn’t that achieve the same result, and also, long lasting? -
Wondering what are some good books on parenting a child? Always wanted to read some of those, but am struggling to find anything good.

It is very easy for some people to get along with everybody. Some people can have a conversation even with a banana if they wanted to and they would find it interesting and exciting. I tend to find most people, like 95%, quite uninteresting. The 5% that I do find interesting though, I could talk to them for hours and I tend to cling to them. Same thing with intimate relationships. I remember my INTP friend telling me he could date even girls that bag groceries if they are cute and he likes them. I feel that most men are like this, they don’t really care about deep connections or how smart the girl is, as long as she is pretty, that is why they have so much more options and choices. Vs I need a deep connection, also a person that has an interesting job and is passionate about it, is an intellectual, very smart, and best at what he does. The problem is that there aren’t too many guys like this. Same thing with friendships, I don’t get along well with people at work, for example, because they are “too orange” or some of them are “too blue” coming from other cultures, and I don’t find it interesting. Some of them are “too green”, but I think they are just faking it because it’s “trendy” in a corporate culture. I’ve been reading that a lot of INFJs have this problem with connecting with people. How do I start seeing people as more interesting? How do I become more easy going? As for dating, I don’t think this quality of mine is very attractive. I think guys like extroverted, confident girls who are more bubbly. Not as emotional and sensitive, not so touchy feely, and not with so much depth. Honestly, sometimes I feel guys just want someone dumb next to them, to always agree with them, not cause too much problems, and be easy.

The alternative to boycotting Russia is to bomb Russia. Boycotting Russian business is a peaceful way to try and stop Russia from bombing and destroying Ukrainian cities.

@Leo Gura would be curious to hear your opinion on this? What do you think about cognitive functions? Would you be interested in making a video about them?

Jesus, scared to imagine what disagreeing with you looks like

Hm, probably something to do with Russia invading another country and murdering innocent people ?

I will address it on top. You are misusing terms again. Correlation measures relation between two variables. I am talking about proportions. I think the problem is that there are not enough statisticians and data scientists involved in the field of psychology. Running these kind of experiments is a piece of cake for a data scientists, but psychology researches lack knowledge in these areas, so it requires more effort. Data scientists would also need the input of psychologists to understand the terminologies and to be able to design the experiment properly. There should be more inter-weaving of the two fields. Also, no offence, but talking to you feels a bit like this right now: You: This wouldn’t work because the grass is purple, the experiments show that the grass is purple. Me: The grass is green, it’s just that when you add certain chemical to the fertilizer the grass turns purple. You: Yea, the grass is purple and it’s the best what we’ve got so far, I see all this purple grass so I can verify that the grass is purple. Me: Again, the grass is not purple, the reason why you are seeing samples of purple grass is because it’s been modified, original grass is green. You: Psychologists need to work with what they see, right now we see empirical evidence of purple grass that we can reproduce, so grass is purple ? Me:

@A_v_E OP is saying don’t work. He says he doesn’t want to work and there is no work in the world that he would be willing to do. Like I said, a more fair structure is needed and hopefully we will get there one day.

You have much more choices nowadays than just dying of malnutrition, it’s hard to imagine a psychologically healthy person consciously deciding to become a bum. Also, given how you yourself said that you don’t want to work and you don’t have any interests, what is the point of your living? What would you be doing with your time if you weren’t working? You’re just a vegetable at that point. How are you different from a bum on the street?
-
@A_v_E I agree, we should all strive for a more fair and functioning society and rules. However, even in our sub-par society there are still choices we all have.
-
I don’t see why you can’t fish the river you want, as a bum any bench is practically yours on the street. I am pretty sure you wouldn’t be happy if someone came and took all your belongings, so there are rules protecting them which work both ways. What you might think is yours by the right of birth might not agree with what someone else think is yours. Given how you are not the only human on this planet, there are some rules set. If you want complete and absolute freedom from societal rules you can move to an inhabitable island somewhere or Mars.
-
But where did you see someone being forcefully dragged to work and then having to work all day under a pointed gun? How is going to work against someone will?
-
You are not forced to do anything. You have a choice. You could always quit and be a bum on the street.
-
A grown man is crying that he is so poor and helpless because he has no interests in life, and somehow that’s the worlds fault..
-
It is your fault. If you sit on your ass all day and expect interests to just find you, obviously that won’t happen. You need to explore and try new things to find your interests. Finding doesn’t happen if you don’t do the action of looking.
-
Tell that to people who are doctors, scientists finding cures for diseases, astronauts in space, movie stars, authors who write self help books helping millions of people, etc. Your problem is not slavery, you don’t have any interests in life, and if you did, you were too lazy to follow them and instead played them down and built all these negative believes.
-
That’s your laziness talking. And yes, on the most primitive level humans need to eat, you can’t expect the food to fall from the sky, so you need to work to get the food. Once humans find ways to bypass eating maybe then they won’t need to work.
-
You are free to choose where you want to work. In real slavery you have no choice.

So you don’t believe the +-+- system has any grounding to it? I don’t see how someone could be Ni and Ne or Ti and Te, in my head there exists a clear preference. Also in your example there someone who has Ne and Ni as their first 3 functions, wouldn’t that person be some kind of hallucinating psycho? Don’t they need an S function to survive? As an Ni dominant I appreciate and understand Ne, but it gives me anxiety if I had to do it and I don’t like doing it. E.g., if you were to ask me to brainstorm, I would get tired of it and start clinging to some one item instead that I find most interesting, yet I do like it when someone does the brainstorming for me and shows me other options I do not understand why you can’t have an NiFiTiSe for example though, but I am still just learning so maybe there is a reason..
-
Logically I would think the justification is as follows: According to Carl Jung, the 4 functions are Sensing, Intuition, Feeling and Thinking. Each person must have these 4 functions - you can’t have a person who doesn’t use thinking or feeling. You can’t use these function in equal amounts 25%-25%-25%-25% throughout your day, if I was to follow you for n days and record these percentages, I would get a breakdown of what your natural preferences are. If you are indeed studying psychology and expect it to be an exact science, you are in a wrong field and should switch to actual hard sciences instead. There is a lot of judgement and not easily quantifiable concepts, many are not even well defined and are still in the process of defining. While big 5 have a basic statistical model, all what it’s doing is finding correlation between words, big 5 concepts are nothing useful, they are just words. What use will it do for you to know that you are conscious or neurotic? What do these things even mean? My original post mentioned that I don’t know why the concepts of cognitive functions are not studied more, why are there no studies about this, why are there no proper tests created to identify those functions? Is it because it’s too complicated? There is no reason why a cluster analysis, regression analysis or some decision tree can’t be built around these concepts.
-
@Carl-Richard so what I was trying to say is that cognitive functions are also merely descriptions. In my first post I mentioned that I am surprised that they aren’t more popular, because I think they are extremely valuable. For example, knowing whether a person is an introverted thinker or extroverted thinker could help to pick out a job for them that’s suitable, or help them in school (right now teachers use the same mold on everyone while every kid is different) And it’s ok, no problem.
-
How is depression or introversion scientifically valid? Also, by cognitive functions I am referring to the 8 cognitive functions. Then by typology I am referring to the ordering and stacking of these functions. So there are 4 things actually -> functions, typology, Myers and Briggs/MBTI, Myers and Briggs/MBTI test
