  1. Foolishness lies in believing in something adamantly and refusing to think outside of it. It applies to both materialists as well as non materialists. Orthodox followers of religions are also a good example.
  2. @Dodo, what do you think is the most probable explanation of reality if its not what the other guys say? 'I don't know' is a very good approach to have an open mind or go deeper and deeper into the insights, but there should be something that is more probable to be a good explanation than nothing at all.
  3. What did you experience? Can you describe the 'glimpse'?
  4. Quite funny that using the words everything and nothing a couple of times is able to explain the whole universe.
  5. Just for fun.
  6. So, what's the conclusion? Does the universe exist only when I look or is it just another belief ? Is realising I am everything the end or I should say to myself 'I don't know' or 'I would never know'. ?
  7. Does this life feel realer to you than a dream? If so, this is not a dream.
  8. Religions are meant for people who are not able to be aware enough about their conditioning of life and suffering and trying to condition them in a better way. It's not good for people who can think and act for themselves.
  9. That's a good direction for the world to move. Until you are bombarded by a meteorite.
  10. It's not a dream at all. Its realer than a dream but not the realest.
  11. I am not sure enough about your statement Plants don't scream. They do suffer. They do have an ego. @SpaceLaika01 If eating meat is wrong, then God is wrong in everything it has done.
  12. What you guys say is that life is designed like a video game, where the CPU processes only what the characters are looking. What I say is that the whole universe is awareness and not linked to individual's consciousness. Each atom is aware of another atom once it comes into its field of awareness, no matter if it had sensory perception or not.
  13. Psychedelics are banned in most countries for a reason. Not everyone can handle it. Cheat codes can ruin the game.
  14. Imagine the same guy making everyone believe that he doesn't need a penny he earns for himself. Anyways, the point is already made. I understand the meaning you are getting at, but what is conveyed is this: There is nothing wrong for an enlightened guy to be rich by his hard work , but to be rich by deceiving people, I suggest you stay away from such guys. This is only a general statement and not targeting any particular guru.
  15. @Preety_India @Dodo is right. There exists a state achieved by deep meditation or psychedelics that will show you that there are no boundaries to the body and they extend to infinity. How you interpret it using your logical mind gives you the answer. Since no two logical mind is alike but the experience is, I suggest you experience it on your own and answer it yourself in the way you like. You can start by sitting simply and focussing on your breath while passively observing and letting any thoughts arising in your mind pass away gently. You can get faster results by doing kriya yoga or the mind illuminated book. Even if you don't experience anything after doing all these for years, don't worry, meditation will make your life only better.
  16. @Applegarden sorry that you have to write so many points to justify your views, I am glad that you took your time. Here are my views to give a clear idea of my point: 1) A spiritual guru becomes popular among masses mainly because communication and technique to meditate is good ( although all techniques are modified versions of centuries old texts) Claims to have mystical powers ( only claimed but never shown, what is shown easily gets decoded as cheap magic tricks) Does or seems to do a lot of good things to society Has a firm group of believers who does whatever the guru says ( it's easy to get a lot of believers once they are open minded enough and are personally benefited by them in some way.) Has political support Personally, I will look only for the first point with an open mind like you said. For other things, I need to use my logical mind, no matter if it is Nityananda or Sadhguru ( both these guys I have seen in close quarters) or Leo. The reason being, these popular gurus also use their logical mind to justify their points. ( Like Nityananda trying to make animals speak scientifically or Sadhguru quoting pseudoscience as proofs here and there). Listening to them with an open mind is very very very dangerous for your physical or mental well being. Being open minded is the first step to spirituality and I am happy that you are, but you need to know the difference between spirituality and fake mysticism, the line separating them being very thin.
  17. He might already have tried, maybe once, but can't tell in public because people will get addicted to them without proper knowledge, just like some people here who have got addicted and not able to come out of it. And of course it's not legal in his home ground.
  18. Imagine an enlightened guy running a billion dollar business. That's what Nityananda is. Sadhguru does a lot of good things for the society compared to Nityananda. For me, books and self enquiry have taught a lot more than the so called gurus. The more popular a guru is, the more deception they use. One example: Even Sadhguru now and then goes into that territory, the very purpose being to attract interest in what his program offers.
  19. That would mean it's a hallucination and not the truth and the senses aid the hallucination. If I put a red tinted sun glass, the whole world becomes red. And that would be my reality. But is it the true nature of the world? If I lose even one sense, the other senses tell me something is there in the world I perceive and it remains the same whether my senses get switched on or off. How do you justify that?
  20. If I am blind, is it true that the world is black?
  21. What is direct experience? Is it using our senses to experience things firsthand? Or is it something else? If it's the first case, then it would be the last thing I would trust.
  22. If you see that the earth is round from the space, will you believe it?
  23. Direct experience is prior. So?
  24. This forum is not for experiencing the truth, it's for gaining insights into the nature of experience. You will always need a logical brain to process the truth and it's better to use multiple brains rather than using a single one, all just for the fun.
