That’s a strawman of what’s actually happening with this thread. Whether something is conformist or not has very little to do with one’s personal preferences and biases. Anything activity that a human considers healthy and/or unhealthy can be done in a conformist or a non conformist way. This is thread is getting our minds engaged to look at how pervasive conformity is, it’s function in society, it’s positives as well as how it limits the Mind. Notice how bias the mind has to be to zone in on the flaws of an individual thread. If you are conformist about a thing, if someone calls it conformist, you will get defensive and call them a conformist for criticizing your conformity. This is a projection

key is making it a routine to questions our assumptions and interpretations, which is more difficult than it seems. You can take out a sheet a paper and write down 100+ things your believe and assume are true-then ask the following: How did I come to assume this was the case? How could I be wrong about my assumption?

Science conformity in the form of taken for granted assumptions- That figments of Consciousness have inherent properties that are objective, and are independent of subjective interpretation (including language, culture, history, cognitive development, etc). That the scientific method, materialism, reductionism, logical positivism, rationalism are beyond just mere figments of Consciousness. When in actuality, nothing about science is objective .. what is considered "objective" by scientist is largely illusory and socially constructed.

Would be funny if someone in the audience at Owen s talk brought this up. ”Psychedelics are bad when taken too far-my friends are whacked out on them and so is everyone else!” Audience member- “but what about Julien? Didn’t he get whacked out on pick up??” Double standard
-
Owen’s perspective on psychedelics lacks nuance and is grounded in various assumptions and biases- all of which he hasn’t personally validated and is unaware of. This alone invalidates his perspective, although it may contain kernels of truth in it. His perspective on psychedelics is coming from below, not above.

At a base level, Conformity is a psycho technology to socialize away animalistic urges of humans for social harmony. It is necessary for the functioning of all collectives that are highly organized. WW2 required collectivism from Allied powers to suppress fascism and nazism How much you conform is contingent to what degree your survival is tied to social harmony. 99.9999% of all people, including my enlightened masters. Simply being a human on Earth requires you to conform to some degree-

@Leo Gura- watching Vervake's meaning crisis series- thought you'd get a laugh out of 3:15min-3:42min "Trying to explain Consciousness is like trying to explain God". I'm over here like- they are the same fucking thing! On a less playful note- I notice many scientist and academic types, when they speak of Consciousness-they often use phrases like "your consciousness of (x)" or "you are conscious of (x)"-which carries implicit undertones that consciousness is some bi-product of human neurons, thus trapped in the brain. To go from 'you are conscious of (x)' to 'you ARE Consciousness' is a huge leap in Understanding -- I get a sense that Vervake does not have that level of understanding Good lectures nonetheless

Deconstruct solipsism and you find that’s it’s an unnecessary label that you assign to the realization of what you are Tricky thing is the realization is independent of solipsism being true or not -

Solipsism is useless without the God Realization that comes with it. AI can’t fathom how profound it is, but the good news is you can -

Through this work- I have come to appreciate the intelligence behind the self deception required to hold a belief system. God constructs belief system for a specific purpose, similar to dressing up in a costume for Halloween. -

‘Exit Systems to Understand Them’ post- intriguing how are social networks do so much for us in shaping our identities in formative years of our lives. There are healthy and unhealthy versions of this- but all aim to reinforce the self-other distinction and collective ego. These are critical bedrocks of survival we take for granted, as we’re feeding off these social networks we are becoming emotionally dependent on the system, and serving its survival-mostly unconsciously. Realizing Truth and God comes at a significant price, can even risk emotional well being as it relates to human form-I’m starting to see. I’ve questioned my willingness to do this work plenty of times because of this, yet for some reason I keep moving forward. I’m grateful I value such teaching of self transcendence and God Realization- but boy, it sure hurts after a while.
