Can you recall when this shift happened? Like where were you in your own personal development where cutting through fantasy became central? Was it gradual or instant? Life events, relationships, etc? I think knowing this helps us navigate our own relationship with truth as it deepens. -
Takes certain level of mental fortitude and wisdom to sift through a swamp of all kinds of toxic stuff on the internet to find the gold.

One career criminal pardoning another, not that surprising. -
Low perspective (surprisingly): personally, I like Robert Reich but his perspective here is not grounded in reality and lost in utopian fantasy. As progressives do, he refuses to acknowledge the ignorance and lack of development of average voter. Feature: denial, based in fantasy/ideals and not realities of human survival.

No one is arguing that the caste system should or should not be "scrapped to oblivion." We're simply highlighting how social constructions work and how they lock the mind into low perspectives. Of course there is a historic wisdom to the caste system- and it's not just a matter of oppression from some external source. If anything it is being preserved by indigenous people out of tribal/cultural loyalty to a set of ideas.

It could be interpreted as sophisticated relative to that culture and those who benefit from it-but there are higher and lower forms of sophistication. If we were to take a native from the Dalit caste and have them live a life of luxury in the US for a week- their idea of what sophistication would change immensely. They would have an existential crisis and not be able to look at India's caste system the same ever again. Low perspectives lock you in to prevent you from seeing anything higher. To see higher threatens your attachment to the lower.

Low perspective: Hispanic Repubs voting against their own interest out of anger for having to pay $6 extra for fajitas. Feature-Selfishness, lack of holistic thinking, short term thinking.

Low perspective: silly and cartoonish (literally) straw-man argument in against gun laws in the US. Feature-absence of fact checking-doesn't acknowledge a vast number of gun crimes are committed by legally obtained firearms as shown in link: https://www.statista.com/statistics/476461/mass-shootings-in-the-us-by-legality-of-shooters-weapons/#:~:text=Crime %26 Law Enforcement-,Mass shootings in the U.S.%3A legality of,weapons%2C as of September 2024&text=100 of the mass shootings, guns that were obtained illegally

Leo's latest blog post about the Indian Caste system is interesting. In retrospect-Indian caste system is a low perspective which lacks self agency and intellectual autonomy. I asked Claud 3 AI about this, here is the response: The caste system could limit individual agency and intellectual autonomy in several interconnected ways: Personal identity and aspirations would be significantly constrained by being born into a particular caste, as it predetermined many aspects of life including occupation, marriage prospects, social connections, and cultural practices. This could create internalized limitations on what someone believes they can or should achieve. The system's religious and philosophical underpinnings teach that one's caste position is the result of karma from past lives. This belief system could lead people to view their current circumstances as deserved or fated, potentially reducing their sense that they can or should work to change their situation. Educational opportunities were historically restricted based on caste, with many forms of knowledge considered the exclusive domain of upper castes. This direct limitation on learning would restrict intellectual development and exposure to different ideas and perspectives. Social segregation and endogamy (marriage within one's caste) meant limited interaction between castes, creating intellectual echo chambers and reducing exposure to diverse viewpoints and ways of thinking. This isolation could reinforce accepted beliefs about hierarchy and proper social roles. The threat of social ostracism or punishment for violating caste norms could create a climate of intellectual conformity, where questioning established hierarchies or pursuing unauthorized forms of knowledge carried significant risks.

@Leo Gura Just thinking- thoughts about creating a Mega Thread-Examples of Low & High Perspectives? There are so many examples to pick from on the Internet-I think it'll be a good supplemental exercise to bounce off of the homework from the previous video. -

Imagine ICE busting into you local churches and schools armed with assault rifles to round up illegal immigrants (could be janitors or cooks) https://www.cnn.com/2025/01/21/politics/ice-can-arrest-people-at-churches-and-schools/index.html -

“Hey it costs an arm and a leg for that omelette!”~ says no one. -
People are less poor from previous years but are still poor in comparison to the insane amount of wealth hoarded by the top 1-10%. I’m not saying that wealth inequality shouldn’t exist on some level-it’s a standard feature of capitalistic hierarchy. However, I don’t think we should be lobbying government as a means to actively widen the gap in some unscrupulous manner to perpetuate more inequality than is necessary.

The rich get richer and the poor get poorer under the new Trump regime. For everyone freaking out-it’s really no need to do so, just get back to basics. Reducing unnecessary expenses, not taking on any new debt and building your savings are core principles I go by to ride out times of economic uncertainty. The Mad Orange King will not have total dominion of the Great Lands of the US forever. Buckle up and enjoy the chaos while it’s here-we’ll all be able to sit back one day and laugh at how the country willingly stepped into this mass pile of epistemic shit 💩

Something has to give though. Of course, to play with sharks one has to become a shark (I agree with you that most hippies/progressives are in denial about this). Question is how does one not become a full on shark, and maintain some degree of decency in the quest to turn things around?

Noting this down as a high perspective- also our political systems and their dysfunction are a reflection of collective values … not very high if you look at most world leaders (the US and Trump for example). -

There’s good and bad to everything. TikTok has rotted the minds of many, yet could have be used for good if anyone gave a damn. -

I anticipate this will backfire on Americans in due time. We shit on brown people in the Middle East because we think it won’t affect us. -
That’s deep. In this case, valuing survival & fantasy over truth shouldn’t be judged as a moral failing of some sort. In a sense, Jail breaking the mind is a good thing only to those who desire it. Truth would indeed look like suicide from a POV that has no desire for it. Desire/bias very much drives our values, how we act on those values and how we judge our actions (actions of others).

How should one go about parsing true from false intuition? The process can’t be algorithmic-but at the same time, a higher level of intuition is needed for parsing .. a meta intuition of sorts. -
