  1. STEM paths are pretty reliable. Unfortunate because not everyone is into STEM, should not have to incur thousands in student debt to get a quality university experience.
  2. Meta Rationality.com quote-David Chapman There’s another problem: scientific instruments are not ontologically neutral; their outputs are “theory-laden” and not bare facts. You can only believe a measurement is meaningful—never mind reliable—if you already accept particular concepts, assumptions, and theories; and those are always to some degree nebulous and uncertain. Mind-blowing stuff
  3. I challenge you to think of it not as rule based conformist thinking, but a social courtesy based off legitimate grievances of an historically oppressed group of people.
  4. Of course -- without rules you get social anarchy and chaos. That's what government institutions and police are for. The U.S. Constitution is a set of rules, without which we'd all be enslaved to most powerful. Even in that case, the Constitution at one point only considered Blacks as three fifths of a human: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three-fifths_Compromise Rules matter
  5. Context matters. Blacks were called N words by whites in a derogatory fashion- not to mention centuries of slavery and oppression. No black person wants to be called N word by a white person simply because it just doesn't feel good. Not sure you can call that conformity
  6. Luigi is a handsome guy, if he was ugly- he wouldn't be getting near as much press- This guy has fan club of girls swooning over him
  7. White plantations owners in the South / Confederacy were calling their slaves the N word out of conformity well before it became urban slang in the today's Black community
  8. In response to Leo' pop quiz: This lady's criticism of post modernism brings up legit critiques, but she fails to mention what post modernism gets right / limits of modernism. There is bias against postmodernism legit aim to deconstruct notions of objective truth that science and rationalism are attached to. She constantly points to the ideological undertones of post modernism (which are evident), but does not mention ideologies that demonize post modernism such as materialism, and rationalism.

  12. Life is a game of survival .. among other things. Embrace this aspect of being human by separating your survival from spiritual pursuits. There is value to both- relatively speaking.
  13. Does watching / reading 100 hours of content on rationality and meaning crisis count as aping? Just kidding It’s about to be a busy couple of months with all the new content shared
  14. I wouldn't frame your situation negatively- it's a temporary stop gap you'll need to take as more doors open for entreprenuership. Consider making a salary a hold over until you're back on your feet, biggest thing is not getting comfortable with a salary for too long, or you'll not want to change it.
  15. Rationality- one of many tools humans use to justify their subjective worldview as objectively true. We are all rational agents because the survival of our worldviews hinge on it .. until it doesn't. But that day would only come after we drop the need to survive. Goal isn't to drop rationality, but see it for what is-thus making it more truthful by first telling the truth about it. An intro to meta rationality This stuff is deep
  16. at that point it isn't conformity. what is it? I need to contemplate that .. but I have a hunch it's more so an indication of curiosity and discovery
  17. Can’t forget to add Diddy to this list. Too bad his ego got him prison time
  18. There are also spiritually flavored egos who become rich and famous: examples: Aubrey Marcus, Jay Shetty
  19. Can only happen through engaging with spiritual ideas that go beyond conceptual knowledge. 30+ years subscribing to the materialist paradigm is not easy crack. And I still haven’t cracked it completely. Insight is the tool used to excavate metaphysical truths about the nature and structure of reality beyond materialism. One of the highest thing a spiritual seeker can learn to wrestle with is the notion that experience is rendered not by some chemical process in the brain-one which we are unconsciously living. If not the brain, then where could experience be happening? Chewing on this for years have opened up some pretty cool corridors of my mind-but it’s also been scary. In any case- the game we play is falling into an infinite number of distractions that prevent us from pausing, contemplating and generating insight into the nature and structure of Reality , Consciousness and Mind. This is in essence God hiding from itself. But it doesn’t have to be God, as long as you recognize that it is all YOU and nothing else. Now that’s an insight for ya P.S. this post is coming from no one, and going to no one

  22. Sometimes it’s not a good idea to share personal growth milestones with family. They are not the most encouraging at times, and can pull you down. Its good when your milestones are shared with others on a similar path. Keep up the good work
  23. Ethics are a social construction. However, it’s important to pay attention to what your body is telling you. How do you feel about paying for an escort? That varies across different individuals.
