  1. So sweet I had a wildlife tour and the tour guide explained that foxes and badgers have some kind of agreement in their shared tunnel-system where they live together not to fight and kill each other. But once they go significantly out of range they are basically in a stateless lawless zone where they even kill each others offspring.
  2. I vaguely remember he also hinted that he hees a potential for a flourishing of idealism through that route. Didnt remember exactly how he sees that happening.
  3. Very interesting, he hinted that his life-purpose might shift again in the coming chapter of his life in his latest book The Daimon and the Soul of the West due to the potential he sees in the new developments in AI. Didnt expect him to be already so deep into it though.

  5. Mostly I just make sure that I get the most essential in regularly: choline, b-vitamins, all the essential amino-acids, healthy fats, if you want to dive deeper on nutrition particularly for brain-performance I can recommand you Dave Aspreys "Headstrong" book. Yeah if ashwagandha helps you reduce stress or sleep better I guess that helps for cognition. Yeah its quite expensive, I get it for 100 a month, but for me it is worth it since every day on it feels a litle bit upgraded and I can do more of what I like to do. Other good alternatives, that are more affordable are Neurofuel or MindLabPro. Or you go for Piracetam + Choline source like Citicoline or Noopept + Choline source, which is even cheaper and probably more noticably effective in the short-term.
  6. But generally basic lifestyle optimization comes before nootropics: first of all good sleep, diet, exercise, meditation. Then make sure you dont have any dietary-definciencies in key nutrients associated with brain-chemistry: fatty-acids, b-vitamins, amino-acids. So you dont have rate-limiting factors causing you to work below baseline. And then you can play with nootropics to go above baseline.
  7. Yeah, Qualia Mind is my base stack, which Ive been using for over 1 year consistently and I notice a subtle, but definite and comprehensive increase in attention, calmness, presence and predisposition towards positive emotional-states. I also played with Noopept, Piracetam, Alpha-GPC and Nicotine. The overall best mental-states and increase in cognitive-capacity with most upsides and zero to almost no downsides I experience on Qualia Mind + 10 gram of Creatine + 5mg of Nicotine.
  8. Insights from the longest study ever done on longevity and happiness. Very basic insights, but so fundamental! Very pleasant watch.
  9. I must admit it felt like a bit of work to watch through all those and sometimes it felt like a lot of repeating - especially after all the years following the work. But overall this grand synthesis and deconstruction of rationality is really groundbreaking and at the same time the insights so painfully lacking everywhere in culture. I encountered exactly these rationalist cognitive-biases presented so many times in conversations - especially in academia. Im sure I will have stronger arguments next time Really outstanding work!
  10. Over the years I always collected my notes, knowledge and a lot of useful resources in my commonplace book on OneNote. It was really helpful to keep track and re-visit all the stuff I learn and now with the update to the windows11 version I cant use the old version anymore and the new made my commonplace book totally messy and doesnt work as well and easy in my opinion. What is the best alternative? I mostly valued that it was so easy and quick to use and worked and synched effortlessly between my phone and pc.
  11. When I come out of a deep psychedelic experience from 5 Meo Malt, the message is always: "This life is precious and a gift, one should value and honor this life, this body and this earth.", not "Fuck it, consciousness is eternal, can do whatever I want, many more lifes to come".
  12. It makes a lot more sense if you see his larger message is bigger than just archieving immortality. Yes Dont Die is his headline message, and immortality makes his whole project spicy, but his project is very much geared towards humanity not destroying itself and the earth - i.e. the metacrisis. It is about preserving life and honoring existence, because existence is beautiful, which is very much what you get in the afterglow of a deep trip.
  13. Nice! Fun fact: my father made music with Klaus Schulze, they had a project together under the pseudonym "Wahnfried":
  14. Wow, thanks for your comprehensive answer! Im still kinda procrastinating with making the transition, since Im a bit frustrated that my notetaking system is a mess right now, but I for sure will since I got a lot of value out of my commonplace book over the years. When I make the time I will watch the videos, Tiago is great!
  15. Yeah, I also liked the simplicity of OneNote. But I find the new win11 version less elegant and also my notes didnt travel well to the new version, many notes lost and my commonplace book is a whole mess.
  16. @bazera No, never tried Notion. Thx guys, I will check them both out!
