If you read one book a week (some of these are pretty short too) you should finish in less then 1.5 years. After completion you will have an extremely nuanced perspective about the history and make up of human civilizations which will make you uniquely prepared for understanding future political events and the changing landscape of the world.

I can also better understand complex subjects with mental maps and models as well as view things visually and more like a system.
