  1. All in all to me, any strongly held position is intellectual arrogance (I.e. “I am conscious!”, “there is no consciousness!”, “reality is materialistic/metaphysical!”, “I am god! Wait no, everything is God yes, yes I see it!”, “God doesn’t exist everything is meaningless!”)) but no position at all is probably the effect of stupidity (and nothing at the same time), as well as one that does not utilise the intellect as it’s means of maintaining its position. It’s a matter of probabilities not certainties to me. Certainties are the place in which mischief gets to hide behind.
  2. @Gili Trawangan you’re making the assumption that it’s not or is, my argument is the untenability of knowing not in the inability of being able to make a self supporting logical structure that posits a self consistent truth based on that structure. My position is that we as humans can never leave Plato’s Allegory Of The Cave, we can merely make logical guesses that we have left some parts of it, at best and simultaneously, not even. For those monitoring I have made three formal comments in this thread that address my own position now, one being more lengthy.
  3. @Mikael89 This is your belief, one in which I do not share. I am not in such opposition as to conclude that positing such a belief that you mention is a denial of value, thus feel free to believe this. Logically however, you cannot conclude that it’s truth value is only 1, it could also be zero. There is after all, enumerable rational evidence to conclude that the human brain is fallible. You do not after all create your neurons, experience does and through this unfolding development you appear to create what you believe to be a “conscious” experience, but this is merely an assumption. One in which could be backed up by “well yes here I am, this is it, look I’ve even silenced my thinking and am quite aware of my thinking and in doing so balanced in my emotional expression”, however over the other side of many hills, there was an opposing army that the village did not account for nor ever conclude for they had never been in a battle other than their fight with animals. There lives a world of unknown that likely squashing all ‘known’ existence to us. But believe away, it’s not like you’re professing that you’re demon, the belief probably helps people. This comment of mine here is short handed if my previous more extended comment was excluded from this summary, the least of which, is ancillary.
  4. @Mikael89 it will take you more contemplation to understand the scope here.
  5. Excuse some of the spelling etc above, typed it on iPad while laying down so it has weird autocorrect, etc sometimes
  6. @Kushu2000You can really only trust logic, but just know that this is also just a fabrication. Everything I could ever possibly conceive is just a thought construct. Everything Leo or anyone in the entire history of mankind has said could be utter bullshit as well as will be that way for humans for all eternity, you have to take that possibility into account, at the same time though our consciousness serves a utility function and it’s to this agency where trusting rationality comes in for me, that is, things you can rationally justify. At least for me, you have to take into consideration the fact that your rationality, is just a part of your brain that is capable of ordering contents relative to their perceived patterns, that is it, thus because it’s just a part of your brain activating, it’s not you, it’s just the part of you’ve decided to use over other parts of you because, at least for me, you’ve found that they have more consistency with respect to being true (for lack of a better word). Remember though that it’s also rational to make alive other parts of your brain because then those other parts get to communicate and feed new insight to rationality that it otherwise wouldn’t have been able to perceive. For example, imagine the data that doesn’t reach rational action for people that don’t have any one of our normal senses that we take for granted. It equates to a blind person inevitably being hit from incoming traffic, a deaf person never being able to pickup on the emotions of people’s vocal tones so they will fool themselves in the sometimes greater benefit in having an overemphasis on visual information, and so on and so fourth. As for “rational action” relative to say as you’ve noted, “helping the world” and so on, well that is completely within your discretion. My recommendation is for you to go inside of yourself, learn to trust your own judgment over others and use the outside world as “extra senses” that feed your rational judgement, many people and their conclusions including your own and my own will be incorrect, all of this as noted could be utter bullshit, it is merely relative to the logic I’ve been able to glean in this moment based on, theoretically speaking at least, the activation of the rational regions of my brain. Given the connotations of rationality, you must’nt trust science, spirituality or anything, all of these are just pathways of information. Science tends to be much more reliable because of the successive incrementally more sophisticated experimentation but it has many, many, flaws as well that need to be recognised, all in all meaning, this is more credence in you forming and discovering your own judgements so that you don’t use any of these as illusory authority figures. You after all could be the one to provide valuable information to any one of these areas. Logically speaking, knowledge is valuable because it fuels your judgement on a situation, however it all depends on the utility of knowledge relative to your circumstances. For example Leonardo Da Vinci likely wasn’t learning about marine biology while he was trying to paint the Mona Lisa, he dedicated himself pretty solely to that accomplishment even if he was discovering other things along the way to that ideal. Moreover based on this there’s the realisation that our focuses inform our endeavours (so Da Vinci was biased as well in this regard), which is why all of us are wrong in a way, because we’re biased by our main interests both with respect to brain regions we exercise overtime and subsequent knowledge we generate and move towards based on those insights. A spiritual guru who isn’t a mathematician will develop very different brain regions to a mathematicians who isn’t a spiritual guru, so in this regard, insight is relative. Sometimes insight will only click with a person depending on say the brain regions that are lighting up at that time. All in all, as stated in my comments above, I am not certain of anything in literally any direction. I don’t prosletyse the “no self” propaganda nor do I prosletyse the “I have a self” propaganda, and that’s even though I have a lot of knowledge on this subject. I am not even certain that my body exists even though on a logical level, if I cut my leg that my consciousness inhabits I am confident I will feel pain. Nor am I sure that my consciousness exists, even though, I feel that I am typing this message. Given the limitations I’m aware of pertaining to my ability to perceive truth, to me there must always be humility there with respect to the likelihood of any one assertion that I really believe to be true is actually completely false. As noted, some then go on to say, “well this could all be a dream then”, my response to that though is “why does it have to be an anything?”, we wouldn’t know anyhow, it could be something totally and completely foreign to what we’re even capable of putting into words. We have to be self practitioners in this regard. Make up our own minds, as noted, use experience as merely a portal to communicate and have information communicated, as opposed to being so adamant about any one thing, that’s to me anyhow, after all perhaps “strong advocates” of things are meant to exist, perhaps that’s their destiny, I wouldn’t know, I have to be open to that possibility.
  7. @xthebentnecklady as I said you can’t even be sure it’s a dream. That’s just a mental construct of which is forever separate from ultimate reality, if that’s even a thing, given it’s also a mental construct.
  8. We can’t be certain that we’re conscious either, the whole idea itself is fabricated by our belief that we are perceiving anything at all. We call it “consciousness” and “perception” because that’s what we think it is relative to our frame of reference but in reality it might not be that all (nor anything remotely resembling a dream as some say, that’s also a potential illusion). We might always be in perpetual darkness with respect to absolute truth outside of logical truth, of which, are completely different things. Many people confuse the two, probably upwards of 99% of people. Thus all you really need is logical truth in this sense, because you can never be completely sure anyway.
  9. Can you list one great thing you learned that couldn’t be found with a simple internet search though? An actual technique not just a belief.
  10. Yeah so that’s my instinctual reaction to the guy. Can you list specific things he’s taught you in this thread or has he mainly just given you a bunch of different stuff to believe?
  11. BUY NOW!!!!! Only $135!!!! Oh and I have beautiful people on my website meditating, that'll be you too! Take me to the gamatron! No thanks. Recommendation: Go inside of yourself, learn about your consciousness. Do not rely on these 'teachers' that show suspicious anxiety and coughing on camera. Any teacher that does not teach the art of how to master ones mind as soon as possible is in my opinion, not a real teacher, they just want a student.
  12. When a baby is born, the most important thing for it to learn is to think for itself and think well. If you have already achieved this and can describe the manner in which you think in a profoundly intricate way, then yes of course, study the rich if this is going to help you in your endeavour. When a person is capable of thinking for themselves and thinking well, along with that greater maturity of being able to display eloquence on the subject of their own mechanics, it is not my place to say how one subject will benefit them or won't benefit them without understanding the full scope of their dealings. There's many ways in which you could study "the rich" as you've categorised them that don't necessarily directly relate to the subject of "richness". A biologist could relate the patterns they discern on this to their subject and a financial investor could relate the patterns they've discerned in biological studies to their financial studies. The world is wide open in this sense, it is filled with a plethora of connections waiting for you to comprehend them!
  13. A film I'm going to checkout is "Charlie Says". I was thinking, "well for the most part films are in a lot of ways brainwashing", then I thought, "well I'll look up films on brainwashing" (because I didn't want to entertain the idea of being brainwashed on anything else at present)... And well, I've arrived at 2018 film Charlie Says, haha
  14. Actually as to whether it’s stage orange or not is of course debatable, it’s probably got a few stages involved there, perhaps originating from stage turquoise (not sure though - don’t care enough to research more at the moment on that topic). It really depends in the way it’s used, in many ways stage orange has taken it over where now you have, “get a mansion!”, “become a millionaire!”, “find your true love!” and all this sort of stuff, posited with the idea that one should and can use “the law of attraction” to achieve these things.
  15. @Pouya To me: Law of attraction to me is likely stage orange propaganda. What seems more likely to me is that it’s simply a realigning of one’s reticular activation system (RAS). Research “reticular activation system” and “motivation” for more info. In light of spiral Dynamics, even though it’s just a model, it enables me to contextualise the utility and motives of propaganda much more effectively. Each stage would reflect different qualities of propaganda here. As for perspective, yes I think that’s probably the case though many like to proselytise high probabilities and consistencies as absolutes when this is certainly not necessarily the case. The worst kind proselytise perceived (as being) absolutes merely because they feel good and or “because it feels right”. Perspective is also just a perspective in this case, meaning I wouldn’t take this as an absolute either.
  16. Just to me: None of our ideas are us or even, anything at all in many respects. It can be existentially numbing, even infuriating to realise this (I.e. that not only all our thoughts aren’t ours but that nothing is necessarily fulfilling any one kindness in quality like purpose). But in the inner exploration of reformatting that world of frustration, pain and loss, we can be illuminated through the loss of everything, including ourselves. For the ultimate illumination is not the realisation of some great intellectual feat, although that can be fun, or some romantic love, although that can make one feel warm, sentimental and purposeful, or some grand adventure, even though that can test one’s limits, build confidence and even make one feel unstoppable. It is the illumination of nothing, that is, that there is so much illumination that nothing can be seen, therefore there is nothing to cling onto, no teaching to hang one’s hat on, no single idea of God, person, faith, meaning, purpose, love or goal to appear as one’s reflection in the mirror. To me this seems like the bridge that is hardest for nihilists to cross, the bridge to no where towards the light of nothing as opposed to the attachment to the idea that there is nothing.
  17. @pluto???? [Edit: apologies don’t mean to offend flat Earther’s]
  18. @pluto I think they’re great points you’ve made, as for being the best though I think it pays to be open minded to weighing up alternatives including taking into consideration the idea that there may be many other paths that are better that we simply aren’t aware of, your suggestion is certainly up there though and one I practice myself. Again great points and well recommended.
  19. @Truth Addict Haha thanks ?. I don’t really have anything amazing at present other than the basics, good questions and training the imagination to think as deeply and critically as possible there. Though it all depends on the questions of course. After I’m satisfied with my experimentation I’ll have something more specific to share then but I need to test various things first before I’m confident about my reasoning about potential benefits there and knowledge regarding the way in which they manifest. Peace out
  20. @Inliytened1 What people do is THEIR business not mine or yours, including what they believe. I’m simply asking you to stop proselytising. It derails the threads and is harmful to those that should be encouraged to think for themselves. This isn’t a complicated scenario. You wont be getting any sympathy or mercy from me given the claims you go around making. Am I trying to brainwash people? I certainly could be! But that’s for you and other people to determine, I know I’m not and I know what brainwashing looks like and as far as I know proselytising is far more consistent with brainwashing than simply sharing to others that I’ve come up with a technique to remove it. But don’t believe me, think critically about it for yourself. Contrary to yourself I won’t try and tell you what to believe, you could think I was an axe murderer or a demon sent here from an alien race to destroy mankind, I couldn’t give a fuck. I’m simply asking you to respect the space of others and my own by sharing content that is specific to the thread in a way that respects the critical thinking of others. Stop proselytising. I don’t want to read it or be influenced by it, and I am influenced by it even if I have you on ignore because you sometimes comment on the same thread. If you want to proselytise make a separate thread but don’t derail the threads of others.
  21. A pattern I notice with people is "how should I view this situation?" but to me they're asking the wrong question, to me the question should be, "how can I better observe this situation?". The first question tries to inject meaning that isn't necessarily there, the second question tries to see what is actually there and in doing so, learning occurs automatically through inspiration as opposed to force (the first question is like an imposition, as well as even, an unnecessary self criticism of should or should not (i.e. "I'm doing good if I'm doing this / I'm doing bad if I'm doing that"). Acceptance. Observation. Uninterrupted (meaning uncluttered by expectation, rules, etc) learning. These situations aren't like making coffee, meaning they're not procedural, "okay two teaspoons of coffee, one teaspoon of sugar, quarter of a small glass of milk... or... don't put too much sugar, remember to allow the coffee to cool down before drinking, etc...", they're simply moments in which we're trying to learn from experience, in so saying as much, the procedure is in the kind of observation we're doing and having rights/wrongs (i.e. don't have too many expectations, observe over judge, seek learning over repetition, etc) here as opposed to our judgements on our situation, judgements of which will subtract from the fluidity of observation which reveals a much richer experience that is far beyond the triviality of blame. In this sense observation is like a fine painter with a brush, delicate and precise, with the avoidance of broad strokes and simplistic drawings (i.e. stick figures - of which many kinds of judgements on situations resemble, as an analogy). So these situations from my experience don't have simple answers and simple stories, which is good, they have shades of beauty stretching as long as we have time to carefully observe the situation.
  22. Just 2 cents: I would recommend you don't deny those thoughts either, meaning don't suppress them, instead I'd recommend questioning them in a sincere and compassionate manner. Posing questions like, "I know I feel this way right now, and I'm very certain about this but what is evidence to the contrary? How can I maintain this question in my mind to find disconfirming evidence without allowing this part of myself to have control of me while still recognising that I need to give a voice to the aspect of myself that feels this way right now? How can I show love and compassion to this aspect of myself while at the same time, treating this aspect of myself like I would someone I love and care about?"
  23. One of the only problems I see here is that you have been convinced by something you can't be completely sure of. This is the trap of all those that fall into nihilistic depression, including those that are unthinkingly devout ________ and it "makes them feel wonderful" (which is.... Wink, wink... The real reason why they believe the things they do, at least for a lot of them). My only advice is to practice training your mind to avoid making assumptions and being convinced by things with an unquestioning mind. Seek inside, discover what is true to you deep down, work to avoid falseness. Peace and best wishes.
  24. Have compassion, love and empathy for yourself. Repeat this meditation. Best wishes.
  25. I’m creating a manual on a technique that I think will help people de-brainwash (one of the effects I’ve noticed), far superior to meditation. It’s an exercise not a teaching that someone gets indoctrinated by. That’s all I’ll reveal at present but it works, I just need to do more experimentation for the manual. For the meantime we gotta reduce our media intake, make our use strategic, not be so naive like “oh it’s okay it’s just a....” People, including myself (before but I’m getting better and better), are not aware enough of the effects of our influences. It has monumental effects, from the individual to the direction of the entire planet.
