  3. No matter what you choose to focus on in terms of a career, you will have the opportunity to do good for other people. I also want to note that your life purpose as you see it isn't "pseudo" or fake. It's only natural to want to choose a career that you'll find satisfying. You're not wrong to say that the purpose of life is to survive, but there's more to it than that. If all we did was work, come home, and go to bed, our lives would be so empty. Humanity would have lost out on art, culture, life, and history. Entering into a career doesn't automatically remove your desire or ability to leave the world a better place than you found it. The book An Everyone Culture: Becoming a Deliberately Developmental Organization details how an individual employee's development is intertwined with how the organization develops. It may help you to see how even as one single employee, you can create change that's positive for everyone,
  4. If there's one thing life teaches us (mostly against our will) is that we have to be brave enough to be bad at something before we improve. It's a cliche at this point but the master has tried and failed more times than the beginner has even tried. I read your list and loved your plan of action. You're very motivated and clearly passionate about what you're pursuing. You're bold and driven. Never lose those traits. Everything won't fall into place at once but when we accept failure, embrace even the smallest successes, things have a way of working out because we focused and stayed on the path. Try reading this to see how even when you're feeling tired or discouraged, the fact that you're out there trying is the biggest thing you've got going for you.
  5. It's never healthy to suppress or try and stuff our thoughts and emotions into a little bottle. If that bottle is shaken enough, it'll explode and then you'll have a mess to clean up. What you can do is acknowledge the thought, accept that it's making you feel that way, and go back to what you were doing. Emotions are powerful. The negative ones have a lot more power over us than the positive. Our negative feelings do have meaning but that doesn't mean they need to have power over us. A book called The Brilliance of Emotions explores how we can process and feel connected to our emotions. There's a review of it here in case you want to read about it before you buy. Review.
  6. Thoughts are absolutely signs that change is needed or that you need to address something. Our minds and bodies are linked. To me, it's no different than having a dream. Dreams are often our brains warning us of something or letting us know that we need to make changes, even if the dreams themselves can be weird. When something is on your mind, whether it's positive or negative, it's your mind and body trying to tell you something important. Our thoughts shape us and how we see the world. Try giving this a read. It's no substitute for an in-person professional or plan specifically for you, but it's a decent start: https://newfieldnetwork.com/life-lens-joy/
  7. I think that no matter how old we are, we should all try to observe and live like children. Wisdom often comes from the mouths of babes and too often, we write it off as childish nonsense or just kids being kids. Seeing the world and our plans with childlike wonder can help us in ways we as adults have long forgotten. Don’t write yourself off because of your age. The world is waiting for your brand of joy. This blog really spells it out: https://newfieldnetwork.com/deepening-relationships-eliciting-wisdom-communicating-like-an-8-year-old/
  8. Getting stuck is a part of learning and it's just something you have to power through. It's so frustrating to work hard at losing weight and the scale doesn't budge or worse, the number goes up. All of these plateaus go away eventually. You learn more about yourself and what you're capable of when you power through them. That's where strength to go on comes from. Give this a read. It's about New Years resolutions but it still has a lot of good encouragement and info: https://newfieldnetwork.com/sustaining-change-seeing-your-new-years-resolutions-through/
  9. Envy and jealousy are emotions, not states of mind. Emotions have a lot of power over how we react and feel about things to happen to us. Your feelings about your ex and her new guy are clearly having a huge impact on your quality of life. We have no control over what happens to us, but we can control our reactions and by that, we gain some control over the situation. Sometimes there’s a process to go through to figure out why we feel certain emotions, but going through those steps can be the key to learning about your feelings and coping with them. Take a look at this to get those steps. They’re very helpful! https://newfieldnetwork.com/demystifying-emotions/
  10. I'm new to the world of trying to find more change within yourself rather than relying on the world to change for you. It's not an easy journey. I'm recovering from a lot of changes in my life and not all of them good. I found "From Knowledge to Wisdom" by Julio Olalla by chance. For a beginner, it was a great stepping stone. We wants things in life and want answers but we don't even know the questions. I didn't know the questions to ask myself and in a lot of ways, I still don't. But this book guides you to seeing why success the way society defines it isn't always success for you. I felt like Julio was guiding me through the process of asking the right questions in the right way. Anyone starting a journey of self improvement would enjoy this, I think. https://newfieldnetwork.com/product/from-knowledge-to-wisdom-an-e-book-by-julio-olalla/
