Intuition plays a big part in that. Some people naturally gravitate towards it without even knowing what a life purpose is. Most of the youngest that became successful were usually in an environment, where someone realized their talent or allowed them to have room to grow their skills. Most will end up going through standard education that will promote them to just work a job. I recall taking a test at school that said I should become a taxi driver. Now granted I enjoy driving cars, but at the time I almost considered that an insult. Not to say that there is not anyone out there highly successful in a similar position. There are a lot of factors that will cause one to go a certain route in life. Also, you would be surprised by that fact that most of those rich and famous people are not actually happy. But some of them really are because they did really pursue their passion to the max. I am sure a good chunk of those people ended up famous, or whatever and now feel they cannot stop as they are very successful in the endeavor. So I assume maybe you have come to the same stop now that you say you cannot finish your degree. But I suppose I have to ask if you genuinely enjoy teaching? Is it what would make you happy even if it had no pay? There is no rush, but it is really nice to identify what your purpose is as soon as you can. But I think there is a lot of things to note. Outer purpose only goes so far and it can change. Inner purpose is something that does not vary. This is a good lesson that I learned from Eckhart Tolle. So while it may seem as if you need to have some big important thing on the outside, that may not always be the case. A lot of it comes down to your interactions in this life will effect the world around you. Once you are able to discover what it is your love to do, can make money at, what you are good at, and what the world needs it can narrow it down a bit. Some people find that their purpose does not really pay in monetary value, but instead fulfillment. I think that most could achieve both though. What really excites you in life? What makes you the most happy while you are doing it? What would you do if you did not have to worry about money? What is something you would change about the world? What is something you have struggled with most of your life?

@Chumbimba You should consider a journal on here, or one that you have on your PC. I think it will really help you go through your thoughts on a day to day basis and make it easy for your to look at your progress. Just look how far you have come in a few weeks. I think this would really boost your progress. Keep on pushing! Those little obstacles will not matter in the grand scheme of things. I might move states myself in the future.

Within a certain reason I do. All depends on the context of what it is. I think so many people are way more capable, than they really think they are. Most people are only using a small portion of their skills and brain power. It is hard to build a mindset around it, but there really is a vast amount of opportunity within anything we are doing. Most are convince themselves that they can't have more, so they can't. It all comes down to the mindset. Some of the greatest achievers are their simply because they believed they could be.

@TheSomeBody That was incredible. Thanks so much for sharing that. I would enjoy more if you are wanting to share them. If you like reading that kind of material I would guess a science route might be the direction you might consider. However, it just depends on which end of it you want to be on really. Do you like doing the studies or doing the reading of the studies?

I think we will see a big boom of industry in psychedelics in our lifetime. However, I could not tell you the exact path that is best. I think being an entrepreneur in the field gives you much more wiggle rooms and allows you to maximize self education. However, I do realize that is not that path that everyone wants to take. I think these types of things would be maximized in therapy type sessions, but it is hard to say who would be allowed to guide these types of sessions. There is also the science of it out there too and studies of it in general. There is a lot of ways that you could go about it. Learning about the mind is fairly deep and it depends on what you want to learn about specifically. If you are trying to combined the knowledge of mind and psychedelics, then science might be the way to go. But that is so hard to say really because there is not much out there catering to this pursuit. I think advocacy about the helpful uses and benefits is probably one of the largest major things that one can be doing right now. So you might find that studying it and teaching others about the uses and benefits could be a really good way to help give that understanding to society that you want. There is a lot of ways you can do that though. I think independent research and experimentation is good with them to start. Invest in some good books around them. Find the best teachers about them. I have found some really high quality sub reddits regarding them too it seems like. Also, invest into learning about the mind as much as possible with those resources as well. Now of course you should carve your own path. Those are just some suggestions. I don't think modern education has anything that jumps out to me as something that would benefit your pursuit directly. Now like I said though you can find all sorts of ways to change those things. You can also add your own twist to the positions currently available and combined them with the use of psychedelics. It sounds like you are not quite clear on the direction you want to go in with it though either. So take some more time to really analyze that. I would try to find what you have the most passion in though. If you want it to be relating to those things that is fine. But aim to figure out what gives you the most energy and fulfillment in life. It could be teaching, coaching, counseling, studying, writing, speaking, making videos, etc. Then combined that with your passion and interests in the fields you are thinking about. So maybe you might find that you are really passionate about how psychedelics help with depression. Now you can aim your pursuits to something gearing towards that, then finding out how you want to bring that to the world. I feel like that would really help clear up the confusion on what you want to study.

You should give the book Mastery By George Leonard a read. I think it is quite insightful and it will help you see those tasks maybe in a slightly different perspective. I also found a New Earth By Eckhart Tolle to be relating to this and a good read. Mastering anything has a nice satisfying feeling. Regarding your cooking it sounds like you are going to be doing it anyway. I would not worry so much on it distracting you. You might also be a position where you are playing with new creative outlets anyway. I see nothing wrong with exploring and especially filling your day with things that you love to do. I think that is some of the most valuable ways to spend your time. I think what you are really seeking is too find a deep passion for something. While you are finding great amounts of interest in other topics. It sounds like you have not really stuck to one major thing that brings you the most fulfillment. What kind of other hobbies do you have? What are your interests? What is something that you have maybe struggled with most of your life? Do you have any talents?

Sales are starting to pick up! I think this summer will be good. I think I should be able to find the best items during the summer. Granted I am probably taking a month off the garage sale season is pretty long. I want to get everything in order and moving as much as possible. I need to clear out old inventory as much as I can. I have a ton of stuff to still go thorough. But it is getting there. I have cleaned out part of the garage to get stuff rotated and blow out inventory that needs to move. It seems like I have just been getting really lucky lately. But I am always looking for opportunities. I was at Fred Meyer yesterday at night and I noticed someone dumped some wicker chairs there in the parking lot. I went and did my business, but they did look decent when I drove past. When I was done I checked them out and found out they were handmade peir one exclusive chairs. They are worth about $200-$350 each. I did not know the value for sure when I picked them up because I am out of data. But I knew that wicker chairs do good and that little badge under the seat that said they were handmade sold me on them pretty fast. They looked to be in really good shape. I am going to take a better look in the light today. I am going to see if I can get $400 for both locally or $750 for both on ebay and ship them. This is a really good time to sell them with spring starting up too. It really pays off the passive research I do on items. I have never even flipped furniture before. I do know of some pieces that go for thousands on ebay that I have been wanting to try to find. Most of the big heavy things people just toss out or sell really cheap. Going to prep myself for a trip next weekend I think. I am excited to see how it goes. I want to really prepare this time and set up a lot of questions and things to work through for myself. I am trying tabs this time though, so it would be a new experience altogether from what I have had before. I look forward to it. I might not do it if my testing kit does not come in time though. I want to make sure it is what I was told. Today I am thankful for Good sales! Feeling good enough Great mediation sessions My top 9 values are Personal Development Knowledge Honesty Productivity Adventure Fun Connection Contribution Creativity

@Strangeloop You are right and there is a fine line between being able to use stuff for spiritual purposes or not. If you are having trouble managing drug addiction in general it might be best to try to avoid all of it all together. But you would have to come to the best conclusion for yourself. It is all subjective, so for one person they can try all sorts of drugs a couple times and never have an issue. But some people get addicted to stuff from their first use. Now psychedelics themselves are not addictive, but someone could use and abuse them in negative ways. Especially if someone is already predisposed to abusing other drugs. It sounds like regardless you are in a place where you need to reset anyway. It would likely be wise to just avoid all of it until you are able to get other things going smoothly in life. Now that is not saying that I recommend you abuse drugs in the future. But if you decide to trip again and are able to do it from a responsible place it might still be beneficial. But you have to have the self control to do that. Without self control even psychedelics can be harmful. I think it would be wise to work on basic self help stuff as much as possible and get yourself going strong. Work on all of your basic stuff. Get your health and energy in line. Work on your motivation, self-esteem, relationships, etc. Research the schizophrenia and any other disorder you might be dealing with to where you can find solutions to help you deal with any effects of them. I have found for myself there is always more to learn with stuff like that. Take the time to buy a few books around it and find some helpful people on youtube. There is a ton of information around that and even communities built around supporting people with the same issue. Get all of that stuff down and work towards finding some work you find meaningful. All of that will really help keep you on track and away from drugs. There is some amazing stuff in the spiritual stuff taught here, but you have to have everything in order really to be able to work on it well.

It sounds like you are interested into writing fiction books or shows? It sounds like a good idea, but you will have to really try it out to see. It would evolve as you try to do it and might even turn into something completely different. I think there is a place for stuff like that. I notice a lot of cultures have many stories around the topic that are really interesting to hear. So I can imagine something like this would be fine. The main thing I would say is to just start writing one of the stories out and see how it goes. Just remember that the first one you make is probably going to be the worst, but will just get better from there. I would say to give it a shot if that is what is on your mind to do. You have to try some stuff out to get the idea of the direction you want to do. Try it out for awhile and see how you feel doing it.

@Name You would be surprised at how things can change. Just from the fact that you are on this path I would say you on track to find what you want and so much more. What things interest you? Do you have any hobbies? Take your time to research this stuff. Just as a baseline adding in a good diet and exercise would make a world of a difference just from where you are at. Try to find a physical activity that you enjoy and work on doing that daily. You can start small even the 10 or 20 minutes if you have to. I really enjoy hiking, mountain climbing, jogging, and going on walks. I enjoy some bike riding and bowling too. Those are just some examples of things that you could do. You don't have to just pump so weights to get a workout in. Find something you really enjoy to do. This is really going to help you get things going. As for diet you are going to want to spend a good chunk of time researching that. I can tell you though things like processed foods, fast food, and many other items in the typical American diet are destructive to your body and mind. There is a lot of information out there and a lot of varying opinions on what is best. You will want to really take the time and do the research as much as possible. Diet is something that is not going to be a fast change either. Buy your taste buds will adjust to pretty much anything. Just working through these two things is going to open up a lot of doors for you to really start enjoying your life much more. Keep up the mediation work though. I would say that is one of the most important habits to have and maintain. The gains from it will come over time though. You will not see much quick results from meditation. Exercise on the other hand is pretty rapid it felt like to me. Same with diet depending on what you are adding in and removing. A lot of lethargy and sickness can come from just low quality foods.

@Name It is, but I suppose that is what makes this existence so special. We probably only have one shot as this vehicle, so why not make the most of it? If you are going to die, then why not live to your absolute fullest? Living as fulfilling and happy life? Why would you want to go through it being sad and unmotivated? Every day we get to be here is like another quarter to put in the machine. It is hard to convey over a message about how much beauty is in this world. I once found myself in nearly the exact position you are in. It will really strike you, when you see life through a different lens. We are so incredibly lucky to even have this opportunity to do this. It is a slowly changing process. You will eventually find with less stimulation from all of this stuff you actually become happier. It seems very counter intuitive, but really it what it takes. I have found myself much more happy and appreciative by cutting out so much of the crap in my life. It is something that you are going to have to experience though. I can tell from your message you are in a bit of a negative emotional state. If you do want to change things around, then I would put that as your main focus for what will drive you do doing better. That and working on those habits and researching your health as much as possible. From there you could start to employ some tactics to removing some of those bad habits. But what you may be surprised to find is that once you have some momentum going it actually becomes easier and easier to remove that stuff from your life.

I had this issue for quite a few years. There could be other causes that are keeping you in a low productive state. Things like heavy metal toxicity, bad diet, addictions, and a variety of factors. It would be recommended to get your blood work done if you have not as well. It is not always something that is just within your mind that is just stopping you from doing this. But your mind can play a part in it. It is definitely possible to get motivated and full of life though. What is taking up most of your time right now? What would be ideal for you to be doing instead? What is your diet like? Are you exercising at all? Change is not going to come fast at all. Just the fact that you have that meditation habit down is really going to help you progress more and more to where you want to be. It will come a day a time if you really do want to be motivated.

I think that you know deep down that staying with the rehab would be best for you. But it all depends on where you are at and what you want to do. If you have not had enough suffering from the drug use, then you might be wanting to go back. It would really help you kick the urge to use drugs by starting to exercise. I think that is one of the more powerful ways to help build discipline and get yourself moving in the right direction. Are you doing any practices you have seen here? There are a lot of good videos out by Leo on quitting addictions. Once you are able to reach a high level of fulfillment the need for drugs becomes less and less. It would be ideal for you to meet all of your base needs as best that you can to help move away from the urge for drugs. Finding meaningful work is really going to play a big part in that. Having good relationships that are promoting you to do better things is going to play a big factor in that too. If you are hanging out with people that are doing a lot of drugs, then consider lessening your time with them, or completely removing them from your life if possible. That and nearly all of the practices on this forum do help towards not needing the dependence of chemicals. It sounds like you are having a hard time staying sober as it is. If you truly do want to continue on the path towards that sobriety, then I think the rehab might be the best choice for now.

Did some good cleaning today for part of my day off. I felt pretty scattered around today. I am going to focus in on reading most likely tomorrow and invest my time into that. I really like this biography. One of the more enjoyable reads I have had in awhile. I am going to buy a good amount of these. I have been hoping to find more just looking around at goodwill, but I have not found too many. I picked up a story of the pope who was there during Hitler's reign, so that might be an interesting one. I want to keep making some extra money to fund as much personal development as possible. Not really putting as much emphasis on saving up for my money goal. I am putting everything into the best quality food, knowledge, etc. That and funding my businesses as best that I can. I want to be able to put out the best work possible and be as efficient as possible. I don't want to worry about how much I save or not to do that. Granted I want to increase my income to account for all of the things I want including the savings. I am going to prep to trip again soon. I really enjoyed what I was able to do last time. I really want to invest the time to make sure I get the most out of this as possible. I think these tools are incredible. I am shocked at how much society puts these off as something negative. I think this is going to be pretty big for my growth to keep expanding into this. I do want to do some more practice in contemplation before next time though. Today I am thankful for Getting to chat with old friends Good cleaning session to motivate me to work on Monday Good opportunities My top 9 values are Personal Development Knowledge Productivity Adventure Fun Creativity Contribution Connection Honesty

@Bittu Cool, that sound interesting. I have a friend that does his own beats, raps on them, and does all the ark work and stuff. It definitely takes a lot to do all of that stuff. I know he was able to figure out a thing to make him get paid 100% for his own work and get it onto spotify and stuff like that. Not sure if it is his own label or how it works exactly. But it seems like there is a lot of stuff out there for artists like that. I can ask him what he used if you want to learn more about it.

Meet my mom's friend today and got the opportunity to sell her car. I think I should be able to make $1,000 profit off of it. I basically just am going to list it and do all of the negotiation to sell it. Granted I am not really big on selling cars anymore this seemed to be a good opportunity that just came up. I am not a big fan of it because no one really likes a car salesman. No matter how many details you point out, or anything it seems they are unhappy about something. But that is not to say that every buyer is like that either. There is only so much control you can have over when a car is going to need something. I have to admit it is probably one of the easiest ways to make hundreds or thousands of dollars reselling. I would not do it with the intention of hurting someone or not being honest. It just bothers me that people ignore obvious things that you say about a product and just assume that you coned them. I have sold a person a car where the ad stated the issue and I told it to them multiple times in person before they purchased. Then the care broke down from the issue and they were mad at me. Granted this car I am selling is way nicer and has 60k miles with no issues. It still bothers me that people are always looking to blame someone else. I sell broken stuff all the time because there is still value in it, but I let the buyer know obviously what the issue is from items to whatever. Starting to pick back up on my physical training a bit. I think I want to start doing more core workouts again and more intensity work outs. Then just do the jogging every other day. I think this is going to help me fully recover from this injury a lot better and will keep me on less impact. I do enjoy getting outside more, but this way is a lot more beneficial from a workout and impact stance. Plus I would like to keep working on some other muscles that I had been attending to there for awhile. It seems they did not lose their strength even though I did not do those workouts for maybe a month or two. Probably just going to spend more of this weekend doing more life purpose course related stuff. It is a lot of work to get through. I don't want to half ass it. I want to put everything into it and get the best results that I can. I already feel amazing on how much I have found that I want to do and really starting to see a much happier future for myself. I really enjoy working on my skills and just doing the things that I think are meaningful to the world. I don't like that reselling is not as impactful. I notice a lot of people in that become envious or spiteful for no reason once they see you doing well. I am sure it will be the same with anything I do. I suppose I just can't see things as much through that kind of lens anymore. Life is too short to put other people down. Today I am thankful for Opportunities Creative visions Little successes My top 9 values are Personal Development Knowledge Honesty Fun Adventure Connection Contribution Creativity Productivity

@Matt8 I can relate to having that insecurity there. Get that out of your system, when you get the chance. It sounds like you just need to get out there and try some stuff out really. Just make sure that you really put yourself out there and do it though. But yeah, once you go over a month or so you can start making it a bit. You are going to want to narrow it down once you decide and really start mastering whatever you choose. There is lots of things that can make really anything able to be monetized anymore.
-
@Matt8 Yeah, I would shift through that and find what you enjoy doing the most. You can also combined things though. Like making videos of gymnastics and editing them. Or other things like that, so you don't need to just make it one thing only. I mean really you could even compose music to play over a video if you wanted. I think finding what will make you the happiest is going to be the most worthwhile thing for you to do. If you do find what it is that you want to pursue with that, then I would be happy to help you generate some ideas on how you could make some money off of it.
-
@Bittu That's awesome. Do you have a certain sound or style you are going for? Instruments, vocals, etc?
-
You might find A New Earth to be a good read by Eckhart. I understand though that you may not want anymore theory, but there is some good practices in there that you may find helpful for your current work situation. Maybe I could help you pick out some actions to take and help hold you accountable?

I just joined one of my toast master groups. In two weeks I will do my first 5-7 minute speech. It will just be about me, so not really going to be a big challenge in that regard. But I am excited to push my limits a bit more from the usually 1-2 minute speech that I have been doing for about the past month or so. I am excited to keep progressing in this skill. I want to find some other ways to improve it though besides the groups, but so far this is definitely helping me. I have been a little off on my routine a bit and I did wake up a late a couple times. I am working on not being hard on myself for any of that. I am trying to add more time to just relax in, because really it seems like I am always doing some besides, when I am meditating really. I want to be able to give myself good times to reset and come back in full force. I suppose a little part of me is worried about slipping into older habits, or something. I feel like I am really moving about that stuff pretty far though as I have been into this work for a few years now and have been making good progress and keeping it. I am really putting in a lot of time into photoshop right now. Just this week I invested almost 5 hours of learning into it. I am really liking it. It feels cool to be able to think of how I want something to look and be able to make that. It is an interesting form of expression. I thought about trying to just do some painting or something just for fun. I always spot some cheap painting or drawing sets for really cheap, so I think I should just pick one of them up and do that a bit. Not really wanting to pursue it. But just more of something to do to work on my creativity a bit with stuff. Today I am thankful for Finding much needed specific inventory Toast masters Taking it easy My top 9 values are Personal Development Knowledge Honesty Creativity Connection Contribution Productivity Fun Adventure

I think being resourceful is really helpful. Figuring out how to meet survival needs effectively. Learning things like budgeting, savings, and tracking expenses are crucial. Keeping your living expenses down will speed up the rate for you to get out. No car lease, rent, etc. Learning to get good at investing or business is pretty much essential. Both would be ideal though. You could just use a talent like singing for example to do it as well and become a "star". Also, it would be good to learn about what you are good at doing. What your skill sets can provide. Then figuring out how you can make money off of those skills. If you can't really think of any, then you will want to explore that more. Find work that you would enjoy to do as it might require you to work even harder than a job for a good amount of time to get out. If you can find your passion that is a bonus. It would be ideal to find the passion and figure out how to make that your profitable venture. You educating yourself continuously is going to put you ahead of anyone else trying to go the same route as you. Learn about the market you want to enter as much as you can. Train and hone your skills consistently. If you can read or research an hour a day that would really help you advance much more effectively. Persistence and experience is key. Stick with something long enough to make you money. Constantly switching course will keep you away from reaching success with anything. But most importantly is you need to be working towards it almost daily. I would say at least an hour a day to the new income stream minimum to get it going. If you want out faster, then you are going to have to do more than that.
-
@Gladius If it's what they want to do, then sure. I just imagine it would be really hard to get anywhere with the side project (unsure how important it is). But assuming they want to excel at it, then that extra time might be worthwhile invested there. If they are doing regular working hours, Ub3r, and the side project seems like way too much to get anywhere with it. But maybe I missed some information in the thread. Edit: I see they quit the job.
-
@Inder It's really hard to fit in a lot of things like that in my experience. What kind of side project are you working at? It might be worthwhile to drop the uber and spend the time all of the side project instead. Have you found any progress towards what you want to do? What kind of things interest you the most?

Sounds like a noble calling. Have you decided on a medium to act on this calling?
