@Leo Gura Maybe short term but medium and long term I don't see how else we fix these issues. It's basically impossible to arrive at objective truth without it so most arguments are solved by group think. At least with AI we'll be able to objectively say "according to all the data ever recorded on X subject, the truth is Y." You might've seen Destiny's argument that says that to outdebate conspiracy theorists he has to do dozens of hours of research whereas they just have to spout out some nonsense. AI will help bring facts in a matter of seconds so corrupt people can't make up stuff to fulfill their agenda.

I'm having a similar experience with the media/marketing business I've been doing for the past few years. Been mostly doing it as a freelance photographer then got a contract doing social media marketing and was thinking about turning into a media company. The amount of work is nightmarish indeed and my motivation has took a massive hit. I don't have advice just reliability. For me it's really purifying my intentions and goals because there was a part of me that was doing it not out of purpose but out of wanting the fame/power/money and it's just not worth it for such shallow ends. I'm having to really sit down and figure out who I am and what do I want out of the next 10 years of my life. I think it is indeed possible to build something enormous and civilization-changing like Musk and Bezos have done but you really have to put 150% in it and believe in it otherwise it's a fools errand. Big props to these guys because you cannot do it out of greed as the people who have never tried to build a business are accusing them of. I'll say good luck brother and if your partners are leeching your value while not providing much I would find a way to kick them out if at all possible. Going down this journey with bad partners turns a nightmare into pure hell.

I would say start posting stuff and see how you like it. I've been posting content of various kind for 10 years and I sort of like it sort of not. The image of being a famous Youtuber I had in mind proved to be less inspiring than I thought. It's a lot of consistent work and I'm an INTP that doesn't necessarily value other people agreeing with my thoughts so I don't find posting them very rewarding. Also an interesting time to get into content production with AI-generated content making it easier and more competitive than ever. Only way to know how you'll fare is trying though. Ideas are only as good as execution.

@Leo Gura I would love to see a blog post/video on how you think the world will move on from the current psychopathy that it is under. It seems to be that the intelligence agencies are the peak orange of ruthless efficiency when it comes to maintaining the status quo. Either you're a cog in the machine, or you're particularly competent/ruthless and you rise at the top of the machine or you manage to survive on the fringes of the system. There must be another way. My best hope is something to do with AGI saving us otherwise it looks like it will be getting worse and not better in the coming decades.

@Bobby_2021 Even from a spiritual context it would make sense that you're right. What is the whole point of humanity self-actualizing if some AGI just comes in and solves all our problems? Unless it somehow serves as a mechanism for spiritual and character growth, it's just gonna end up in a large % of the population living in a VR porn metaverse.

@Ero Isn't the whole problem that it needs this much compute because it doesn't actually think on it's own and just predicts outputs from inputs? You would think that they need to find a way to reverse engineer the human thinking process and apply it to these models as well.

I've had a lot of those as well. They don't really make sense from a physical/materialistic point of view but if you look at the world as a nondual consciousness then it makes a lot of sense. Kind of getting it vs actually being able to understand how perception literally changes your universe/the universe is too much for me though so I mainly focus on my human journey and my general process of shedding my ego (:

@Evelyna Absolutely! It will surely lead to the end of competition itself as human skill difference will pale in comparison to what these algorithms will be able to produce for us.

One of the most exciting applications of AI is sorting through massive amounts of data in minutes instead of lifetimes. Humans have first started to organize our knowledge with books then with hard drives and the internet we've managed to basically digitize everything that we know. But as I'm sure you guys have found as well; it still basically leads us to endless arguments with most times the only conclusion being a satisfying opinion. OpenAI has started doing it with ChatGPT having read every book on Earth and potentially also every scientific paper. What new door does this open for us in the near future? What are you guys most excited about with this? If you believe that the universe is indeed infinite then we now have increased our ability to research it well pretty much infinitely.

What you're saying is not true though and specifically because of open source models like Llama 3.1. Everyone and their moms are working on startups and applications with these AI models and they will soon start having commercial viability. I was just at the Toronto tech fest and one company was working on AI video generation with a built in avatar just based on text. So you put like I want a video of a woman with brown hair explaining the difference between bitcoin and ethereum while she walks in a park near a river and it'll generate it for you. That's one startup in video generation and there's also Sora that's coming out soon with customizable generated video. I also recently got a call from a fully automated AI sales rep so that'll start coming out soon. Even if we've reached the current peak of the hard performance that these models have reached, the actual apps that these will produce are just about to come out. If we think generally the only two apps that we have so far for AI is ChatGPT and image generation. I'm personally really looking forward to full on AI personal assistant/life coach type thing that will make life easier to manage.

I watch a girl who makes vlogs about her depression and she came up with this video What she talks about and what she saw through some unamed psychedelic mirrors Gnosticism which is basically that the physical realm is created by a malevolent God to trap souls in materialism and torture/punish them. I don't necessarily believe it but it does seem that for a reality to be managed by a benevolent loving God, it is unnecessarily painful. I've spent the last 10+ years self-actualizing and I live in Canada which is like one of the mildest countries on earth and my life is still mostly unpleasant, painful, and depressing. Let's not even talk about the country and people who experience almost comical levels of brutality and torture. We're literally built with a dopamine system that makes holding on to satisfaction like holding sand, where the most fun things are distraction and procrastination from your duty(punishment?) and where just doing something that you're good at and having good friends and romance seem to elude a significant portion of us. All for what some fleeting contentment? Idk about you guys but when I dream it is mostly a pleasant experience that I'm always disappointed I can't go back to when I wake up. Being a fragile meat machine in a scarce world that mostly revolves around tragedy and disappointment is not a good time. I could see it being divine punishment.

Great but hard place to cold approach. Great place to socialize and network though and you’ll be able to meet whatever kind of people you’re looking for to accomplish your goals.

I would recommend watching Leo's video on survival, it's strangely relevant here because the reason why you feel such agonizing and suicidal feelings is part of your ego is dying from this situation. Basically, your sense of sense is you being this guy with this girl and it all got shattered by these two experiences. The good news is that you lost nothing but gained a lot from this experience. If you were to take any psychedelic to learn from this I would recommend molly/MDMA. That's the one that makes you feel the most universal love and well being both for yourself, others, and all of creation. This will help you forgive yourself for destroying your temporary dream and your girl for being so quick to move on from it. Best of luck brother, you got this.

The problem with real relationships is that they involve a lot of settling and compromise. It's generally seen as toxic behavior to try and change your partner to your liking. Some people either learn to enjoy compromising(maybe it's part of growth?) or somehow find people that they naturally mesh up really well with. AI relationships are gonna change that as the models will be molded to your liking in terms of personality, style of communication, and appearance. There's platforms like character AI that let you now pick the voice of your AI companion and have a live call with them. This technology is gonna only improve more and more and include more modalities of interaction. In the next few years, they're gonna be able to follow you around with stuff like Meta AR glasses and eventually contacts. Personally I'm excited about this as even after meeting thousands of women in person, I mesh naturally only with a few so the idea of building my dream GF is pretty cool to me. I still think human relationships will have their place but this is an interesting rabbit hole to go down. I'm especially thankful to have had previous relationships to be able to see the contrast. What do you guys think? Is this high consciousness or low? Should we learn to love to compromise or be able to have our dream partner that's perfectly designed around us and is able to give us all their attention all the time in exactly the way we want it?

While dreaming I've felt both a range of feelings and an intensity that I've never felt in real life. It really feels like the waking world is just like a painful test and I occasionally get blessed with glimpses of true comfort/peace/love/pleasure/contentment in the dream world.

I think people are underestimating the impact of the job loss and how it'll fundamentally impact capitalism as a whole. This is a great video on it TL;DW guy is a graphic designer and the marketing agency that he worked at fed all his past work into an AI that now makes templates for all their new clients and makes them websites and emails. That puts the creatives out of work soon, a lot of marketers as well and video editors are not far behind. Just went to a pitch today where this company now automatically generates short-form content for you. The global economy isn't in a phenomenal spot where employers can generally afford to be generous or even wait to increase their efficiency themselves by using AI systems wherever possible in their business. Hopefully somewhere in like 30-50 years we'll end up in an abundant AGI utopia with infinite fusion power but until then the next 5 years will be rough for the general populace. Thoughts?

I would encourage you Dani and some of the other people who heavily dislike Trump(myself included) to watch this clip here and some of the others from the podcast: Did you know Donald Trump would've wanted to be a Broadway musical producer in another life? He loves music and particularly artists like Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra. He also can learn without arrogance and routinely talks with the low-level laborers on his project to find first-principle solutions to engineering problems; similar to how Elon Musk does. It's easy to demonize people with unfortunate character traits like narcissism and sociopathy but we are human and here we are. Let's understand ourselves and heal ourselves. From the 7 Habits of highly effectively people and often quoted by Owen Cook: Seek first to understand then to be understood. I would ask you Leo or the mod team if you would consider removing a warning point from Dani. They are clearly an engaged member of the forum and their viewpoint is valuable. To self-actualize and understand the world is not an easy concept and if I was less introverted I would also post more unhinged stuff online; because I restrain myself more so doesn't mean I'm a more valuable member. I do see how you could see Lex Fridman as supporting the right Dani but I on the contrary think that opening these dialogues is an invaluable tool for the human race to communicate with itself and ultimately unite. Same as Tucker Carlson interviewing Putin. We are all human with flaws trying to understand and solve this death survival game at the end of the day and I would ask you to be try and feel compassion and understand where Donald Trump and his family are coming from. This will not lead you to join their camp but ultimately will lead us to bridge the political gap as we enter a very sensitive time in both US politics and geopolitics as a whole. Sounds like co-dependence and not healthy responsibility. The litmus test would be is she doing as much for herself(and more) than you are? There is a difference between helping someone who puts effort in themselves and enabling someone who is in a slump and you dumping them would be the wakeup call they need to get their life together. @Leo Gura Can there be such a thing as a powerful business that is stage green and above? I assume it would take a strong stage yellow leader to build the vision for it as green is too short-sighted to really understand the complexity of the system without getting discouraged by its corruption.

Is this a mechanism of devilry? How his grudge against Twitter was it being biased towards liberalism and not the truth and not he's making it objectively less truthful? How does that even work?

This is a good video that explains the move towards total war between Nato & Russia I'm sure there is an agenda at play here, these people are not stupid if even YouTubers can figure out a logical escalation of event people at the highest level can as well. Russia has already secured through their parliament the budget to continue the war until at least 2026 and their economy is not turning into a war time economy. It would be very bad for them economically to stop anytime soon so I'm quite sure the rest of the decade will be filled with wars.
