Fear, like all emotions, comes and goes in the mind. The question is whether it is sticky or not, whether it stays. The "tips" regarding fear are the tips regarding any negative emotion -- which are either to a) take the psychological stance -- go into it and figure out what the underlying unaddressed desire is, and correct your life accordingly (i.e. the emotion is being caused by some dishonesty to yourself about what you really want) or b) take the spiritual stance -- which means to inquire into whom the fear appears. It will become apparent that the fear cannot affect the real you. The "you" that is afflicted by the fear is an imaginary you that is created by the fear. But of course you must see this for yourself. Until that point is reached, self-inquiry must continue. And if that insight seems to slip away, re-inquire. Over and over until that knowledge is stable. Take heart from this little gem from the Yoga Vasistha I read today: "He who knows himself to be unbreakable and unburnable like a solid and impenetrable stone, not in his unreal body but in his consciousness, cares little for his death...When we are firmly settled in our belief in the indestructible nature of empty consciousness, we are led to regard the fire and thunder of the last day of destruction in the light of a shower of flowers over our heads." -

Sure -- in the seeking stage. It's a classic identification with thought -

Contact the clinic at the Frankfurt Psychoanalytic Institute. Looks like there are lots of options for payment, including insurance possibly. Trust me, proper therapy (or actual analysis, which is even more dedicated and deep) takes time and effort but if you are a serious seeker it is so worth it. FAR superior to trying to do it yourself. I wish I had done it earlier. -

In what city are you located? There are often very low-fee therapy options available for students and other low-income individuals. The truth is that it is worth working with someone: you will accomplish with much greater ease if you have any significant shadow work to do. Other than that I also recommend metaphorization — a method I detail fully in my book — where you express your feelings by thinking of things which those feelings are like and expressing that connection, either in words in or in other artistic mediums. By investigating what you think you want, your feelings about that, your life, and everything else that bothers you, you can come to greater clarity. -

Well, from one standpoint, because it’s true, and not just of me, but of us all. And it’s a playful way of getting seekers interested in talking, in asking their questions. This too Yes, best to do shadow work through psychoanalysis and/or psychoanalytic psychotherapy (not just any therapy). -

You are assuming that there are really such things as POVs. -

That is interesting, but I don't really think about these in these ways. I am mainly concerned with the single truth. -

Whatever significance it has cannot be spoken. -

The phrase "I am enlightened," like all language, but more so than almost all other statements, is contextual. There is a reality being referred to, but it cannot be accurately put into language. Even the words "I am enlightened" are paradoxical. So if I were to explain it, it would depend on the purpose for which I was explaining it. For example, if I were giving a basic theoretical background to a seeker, I could say that there is a "veil" covering the Self -- the veil of ignorance -- and that enlightenment is the destruction of this veil. But that's really not quite accurate, because there really is no veil; the veil is just the idea of the veil; and there is not even that idea, actually... But it's useful enough for a seeker to keep that structure in mind, even though it's not quite true, because that is helpful for the search. -

It is what is when you inquire look deeply into who you are. I could call it pure being, being-consciousness-bliss, that which is beyond all dualities. There are many words for it, but all of them are ultimately inaccurate. What exactly do you mean by that question? There are many things I could say in response: it's a koan, which, if you reflect on it, will lead you to enlightenment; it's meaningless, because all language is meaningless; it means there is knowledge here for those who seek it; that this mind no longer considers itself to be a separate entity; that I don't exist; that all of us are enlightened and therefore so am I. All of them and none of them are true. -

Not "and yes." Merely because the movie is playing does not mean there is any choice or chooser. There is no separation because there is no relative world (but this is not merely an idea; this has to be directly understood), not because there are these two things called relative and absolute that are not separate. Eggs or cornflakes are eaten, but there is no one choosing between them. No, there is not. There is thinking or not thinking, but no choice. Ego "had taken over" what? The very idea is itself an egoic picture of things. Again, there's no one dialing up anything. It is far easier to escape the real truth with ideas of 'integration' between spirit and world. Perhaps you would have forgotten regardless. The I that can be "screwed" is not the true I. -

Being is both beyond perception & the relative world and in and through it. Enlightenment does not give you any special insight into animal experiences one way or the other. -

Absolutely. This is the key point: does the woman in the movie have the choice to "come back" to the movie? Is she the one who ever left? It is actually not that woman, is what I'm suggesting. That woman has never left the movie, can never leave the movie. There is no one who can leave the movie or come back to it because other people are being pissed off. Who is the *I* who doesn't care? Is that really you? Yes, but again, there is a difference between this as a state you can choose or not choose and this as a fact over which there is no choice. The true 5D is the latter. -

Yes, that is all roughly correct. But they are just words — yes, even your lack of free will is not accurate. Neither free will nor predestination is technically correct. So either just surrender, relax, and give up all desire for things to be different than they are, or else engage into a deep inquiry into the Self. Intellectual understanding is a start, but not enough. -

According to Hindu theory, depends on their prior karma. They might go to one of the other worlds, or they might be reborn here. Yes, you are a spiritual being. Actually, you are just being, period. Karma is illusory — only if we believe the illusion is real is karma real. I don’t know if Jesus historically existed, but it hardly matters. The important Jesus is the one we know in the gospels and in the hearts of his devotees. -

1. Could be this one or another one. 2. There’s not just one astral world there’s an infinite number. Every time you read a book you travel to another world, for example. Drugs, dreams, meditation, imagination — all can move you between worlds. 3. I don’t understand your question You shouldn’t take these answers too seriously. There is a reason it’s called illusion. It’s because it cannot be talked about coherently, because it doesn’t really exist. -

1. There are many metaphors, all of which are partly accurate and partly inaccurate. Yes, video game, movie, book, dream... I talk about this in detail in my book. 2. Follow the path of self-investigation. 3. Rebirth 4. No 5. Yes 6. Depends on what you mean by God. If by God you mean someone who can control reality at will, no. If by God you mean supreme peace and freedom yes 7. Sometimes, but that is not core to awakening -

Other than me? (though I actually don't have many videos up) I actually do like Mooji best of what I've seen. David Godman is also good, though he's not exactly a guru per se. -

Yes indeed You're very welcome Whether you succeed or fail in a modern lifestyle is not affected by surrender. Those who fail will fail; those who succeed will succeed. Your attempt to surrender will not change what is fated. But if surrender is too difficult, then do self-inquiry. When self-inquiry reaches its end, you will find that surrender has been happening all along. -

You can't really judge whether someone has "no ego" based on their outward actions; it is their inward experience alone that dictates that. Though of course you can decide whether you feel peaceful in a teacher's presence. As far as Mooji, from his videos, which is the only experience I have of him, he comes across as very legit. As far as the kissing feet behavior, etc., you have to realize that this is all very normal in the Indian tradition for thousands of years... so arguably he is respecting some followers' need to show their devotion that way. Not all gurus do, of course, but he's made that choice. -

He's cutting down her ego and snapping her out of the seduction of energetic experiences; they are not awakening. Sometimes people need some tough love. Historically, masters and sages could be much, MUCH harsher than that. -

I think that's right. That info has gotten you here. Now the rest of the way you have to find using the inner guide, your inner knowledge and intuition. Yes, a complete acceptance of what "is" -- that is, dropping all desire for anything to be different than the way it is -- is perfect. If you are not able to surrender completely, then surrender your worry about that. Surrender the best you can. Utterly relax all effort and inwardly allow yourself to be moved like a puppet. Or -- and this is complimentary to surrender -- again and again focus on the I feeling and try, through feeling (not conceptual thought), to find what it refers to. You've already glimpsed the answer many times, and then what happens is that you forget again. So repeat as many times as necessary. -

You can't blow it or lose it -- you are it. It's literally impossible to lose. All these ideas of 'places' and 'surfacing' and 'rejecting' and 'final doorways' are the problem. You touched on something, but your mind is trying hard to conceptualize it, which results in a maze. What is it that could 'experience its own non-existence' and then stay existent enough to reject it? What is it that "gets it" and then "blows it"? Where is the true I in all this? -
winterknight replied to winterknight's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
Huh? What we're talking about is surrender, and your fear that it leads to "forgetting shit" as you're saying. I brought up the movie analogy because surrender happens to the "person in the theater." But you right now are like the person in the theater saying "If I relax, the woman in the movie forgets shit." That is a confusion between the theater-goer and the movie character. It's not about "saying" the kids don't exist. Those are just words. There is a realization connected to those words. Again, are you the one making the decision either to shoot the kids or not? You are not. You are not the one choosing to "care" for them or not, either. Or the one choosing to live life either compassionately or not. You are not the chooser at all. You do not exert effort at all, ever. If that fact is realized (not just as a verbal thought, but fully understood and embodied), total and complete surrender is automatic -- it cannot be helped. Because there is no one there who can choose. Well, clearly we do have something to talk about, because you're mentioning choosing 3D instead of 5D living because 5D living leads to forgetting and your family gets pissed off. As I said, if you consider yourself to be choosing between 3D and 5D, that's a belief that comes out of identification with a decision-making body/mind. True 5D living isn't a choice you can make or not make because it's convenient or inconvenient for your family or career. It's just a fact. -

You have to apply self-inquiry to this same question. Who is it that is worried about looking weird to people?
