Completely opposite. Direct experience is indeed the knowledge of Being — but not knowledge in the ordinary sense, which depends on memory, thought, or description. The knowledge of Being is being itself. It is not gained; it is not held; it does not arise and vanish. Experience, in the usual meaning, belongs to the mind and comes in time. The Being is present before, during, and after all such experiences. It is not an object of experience, but the constant awareness in which all experiences occur. The “Universal Mind” you speak of is the Being. But the Being does not “know itself” as one thing knows another. it is self-luminous, self-evident, without division between knower and known. It is like the sun: it does not need a lamp to see itself; its shining is the seeing. To realize this, turn within and see the source of the “I” who seeks to know. When the seeker dissolves, what remains is that which never began. Pure Being, beyond experience and non-experience alike.
