I assume we are talking about men who eat the standard american diet (SAD-Diet).  There are couple things going on:

  • progressive atherosclerosis from cholesterol deposits cause reduced blood flow to all parts of the body, penis including. This also leads to increasing blood pressure. Both are highly damaging to the inside of our arteries and veins called endothelium.
  • there is a degree of insulin resistance even potentially pre-diabetes developed from the poor diet so there is a lot of sugar imbalance, further epithelial damage and insuling running completely bananas.
  • massive amounts of free radical damage from fried foots, oxidated fats and poorly controlled sugar taxing body's antioxidants because the regular poor diet is extremely poor on exogenous antioxidants such as vitamin C, E, Selenium etc...
  • a degree of adrenal fatigue from years of caffeine and stimulant taking and stress so cortisol is all over the place.
  • lots of other issues with kidneys , liver, bone mass etc...

Because wine is vasodilator and relaxant, it helps to get some blood into the penis that is otherwise getting clogged from horrible diet and lack of exercise. Stress is also a factor. Mental health is also affected by these since atherosclerosis affects all veins in the body and whether one ends up with the stroke or heart attack probably depends on what gets completely blocked first.
