Fads come and go

Isn't it interesting to think about all the fads and styles that have come and gone? Women would pluck their eyebrows very thin a few decades ago. Men would wear ruffs around their necks in the 1500s. Some African tribes stretch their ears and mouths with disks. Some people color their skin with ink. 

What's up with all that?
