Well, if one scenario pissed off more. It's just an excuse to not face the other situations' weight. I guess. If the behaviour itself is like so, better approach would be to talk about the compulsion openly and frankly let the other do what they want. While you negotiate commitment. Because the problem with cheating is not cheating itself, it's the why behind it and the how it affects the significant other.

I agree.  It's optimistic, isn't it?  Or is it pessimistic?  Or neither?  ( Please don't say neither. )

The question of free sex often leads me into dark places. On the one hand it's hippie-ish and open minded, while on the other it's just mentally taxing and a gateway for shallow connections. 

It's neither optimistic nor pessimistic. It's complicated, quite frankly. Unless you're in a cult which keeps you afloat while you're in it.

Assuming I'm the one who's cheating in the bedroom, I'm wondering if both cases are optimistic.

Case 1:  Cheating in the boardroom is condoned, because cheating in the bedroom is condoned.  <-- Optimistic?

Case 2:  Cheating in the boardroom is NOT condoned, because cheating in the bedroom is condoned.  <-- Optimistic?

Why?  Because, if they're both optimistic, that explains why I'm struggling to choose between them.  That's all.
