I will now fully quit my last high-dopamine addiction: internet entertainment.

Today was day 1 of the new additions to my abstaining list. I am now going to sleep soon.

I faced the boredom head-on and did mostly nothing since I had a free day from work. After waking up, I lay down for two hours doing nothing, just thinking. Other than sitting or lying down doing nothing, I walked, did 50 push-ups, squats, abs, and bent-over rows, wrote 1,000 words, studied, did speaking exercises, and cleaned and organized my house.

Here is the updated list of things I will abstain from for the rest of my life:

Alcohol (streak: 524 days)
Video games (streak: 474 days)
Nicotine (streak: 280 days)
Caffeine (streak: 280 days)
Drugs (streak: 280 days)
Porn (streak: 280 days)
Gambling (streak: 238 days)
Junk food (streak: 154 days)

YouTube, IG, SC, FB, etc. (streak: 1 day)
Series/movies (alone) (streak: 1 day)
Scrolling short-form content (streak: 1 day)
Chess on phone (streak: 1 day)
Fapping to anything other than imagination (streak: 1 day)
Audiobooks (streak: 1 day)

Internet entertainment is my last high-dopamine addiction, and quitting it will be a game changer in reaching my goals.

I’ve been feeling bored. I’ve had to face things I used to escape through internet entertainment. Emotions and unpleasant thoughts are coming up. I don’t have anything left to escape with. I’m just waiting for it to get easier and to get used to this.

I’m waiting for my brain’s reward system to stabilize. Hard phase, but this too will feel normal soon (in weeks, months or in a year), I’ve been through this before. Like quitting nicotine, I have cravings and anhedonia.

This is not a temporary dopamine fast, I will abstain from these for the rest of my life.

I’ve also chosen to stop reading forums, but I’ll continue posting my journals here.

Got sick and ended up stuck in bed, and I slipped back into internet entertainment. My internet entertainment streak was 19 days. I got sick at a pretty bad time too, right near the end of a tougher phase (first around two weeks of abstaining). Next time I get sick, I will be stronger. I am 100% committed to abstaining from internet entertainment for the rest of my life.

Now I’m finally healthy again and I’ve started again. Today is Day 1.

What’s interesting is it doesn’t feel like starting from zero. Getting back into it feels surprisingly easy when you return quickly, like the progress is still there. Now living without internet entertainment is the new normal. My biggest achievement is getting back on track quickly.

This is my current abstaining list: (streak - days of 100% abstaining)

Nicotine:  547
Video games:  497
Alcohol:  303
Caffeine:  303
Drugs:  303
Porn:  303
Gambling:  261
Junk food:  177
News on phone:  24
Audiobooks:  24
Live streaming platforms like Twitch:  24

Back to basics.

I have been going out a lot sober. I am losing my vision of trying to live without any consuming. I am having so much fun going out picking up girls. I am starting to think I don't have to abstain from anything else than this current list below. Maybe I am going to enjoy life without becoming a total outcast weirdo who doesn't do anything. I love listening to music again. I am currently maintaining a rotation of 3 girls and tryna add girls. Multiple times a week I am going to the gym, sauna & swimming in a spa, hanging out with my roster of girls, going clubbing with friends, playing billiards. I went clubbing three days in a row last weekend fully sober and I'm talking about long adventures and fucking women until morning, and I started all three days by going to the spa with friends at 3 p.m., going out to eat, then somewhere nice to sit, and then hitting the club and talking to everyone. I feel like I could do it again this weekend, being sober is a superpower.

Days of abstaining:

Nicotine: 612
Video games: 562
Alcohol: 368
Caffeine: 368
Drugs: 368
Porn: 368
Gambling: 336
Junk food (alone): 252
Scrolling short form content: 77
Instagram, Fb, TikTok: 77
