  1. One common act of conformity that I do is going to a hookah bar that my best friend loves going to, but I absolutely despise going to. All for the sake of spending time with him from time to time because I enjoy his company. He hates going to new places (and often times he can't due to his poor health), whereas I crave exploration and going to new locations. I adhere to his wish to go there mostly for his sake, and even though I would consider it "selfless" on my part to go there every single time, it is ultimately me conforming to his wishes. This one would be "conscious conformity" because I consciously choose to go here for his sake. Another one is subconsciously speaking in a polite and gentle tone to customers instead of speaking more openly without any worries, because it would look "unprofessional". This is what I would consider "subconscious conformity," since I try to keep up appearances and be a "professional representative" at my job to build a solid reputation. Then I had a phase where I constantly used ":3" because I copied it from people I used to talk to in order to fit into that group. Severely cringe childhood moments. This one was purely unconscious and it seemed totally normal to just go along with the herd.
  2. Hello everyone, hope you are having a great day! I have been wanting to ask this for a while now, just wasn`t sure if it was me being insecure about meditation, but I have noticed this morning that it feels much easier for me to be aware when I slow down my meditation by focusing on an object, sound or sensation for 20 seconds instead of 10, it feels like I am just quick-scanning things and not really savoring them when it is done for 10 seconds and move on to the next, and it feels more mechanical and to get it over with. Is this alright when doing mindfulness meditation or is it recommended that I meditate on something for 10 seconds? Thank you for any advice you give!
