  1. Speaking with nuance is important and especially in the context where absolutes do damage. However, I find it important to understand that sometimes your words cannot encapsulate the entirety of a situation (which connects to how words can't even encapsulate reality period), and confidence and assertiveness means more than needing to cover all context. Constant qualification... like hedging everything with "usually," "often," "in my experience" -- it can dilute the message. Like, a parent isn't going to say to their kid that they "should usually avoid running into the street." Fuck that, they're gonna be like "NEVER run into the street EVER!". The absolute isn't reckless, it's appropriate to that situation.
